Big game for the Shield and for Colorado's playoff situation (with KC playing Dallas tonight). Wish I was at SF...and it's not even on Yahoo... Fire (4-4-2): Thornton; Pause, Gray, Curtin, Bocanegra; Williams, Armas, Jaqua, Mapp; Razov, Ralph Colrado (4-4-2): Garlick; Hart, Borchers, FRASER, Kotschau; Henderson, Mastroeni, Powell, Chung; John Spencer, Chris Carrieri. Very strange line-up tonight! 4-4-2, Jaqua in midfield, no Marsh, DMB, Perez (Whitfield suspended). Maybe nursing a few hangovers...
11th min: PENALTY! Jaqua makes a great run and everybody's newest golden boy Nat Borchers brings him down in the box! Razov puts the ball down...GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL! That's the way, boys! Jaqua is a stud! Less than a minute later, Ralph hits the post! We are on...no, won't say it. I can hear Section 8 on the radio! I should be there! Screw school...
Goal for Colorado... GOAL for Henderson in the 20th minute: 1-1. Seems like a wide-open match from the radio. We just had a good chance, too. Grrr... Hey, can I report the Metros-Revs result? Because it probably means I can make the first playoff game!
Any idea on why Beasley is on the bench? Wait, did he just play an U-23 game? Perhaps he's being fatigued from mid-week game plus travel?
He didn't get called up for that game. It was the same day as the 2003 USOC Final. He's in yellow peril.....Caution points accumilation Maybe that's it?
It's probably just a rest for ol' Damarcus. He had a great game on Wednesday. And a chance to try out some other people for the playoff run, while resting some people. What I don't see is why Perez (I know, I know, but...) isn't in at left-back, which pushes Pause into the midfield so either Jaqua or Williams to the bench, because with Powell and Mastro in the mid with Chung and Henderson, that's a tough place to be, and two (three, with Mapp) offensive-minded people (though Jaqua's work-rate seems good) might not be such a good idea. We'll see...
what good is the F****** shootout? if they're not carrying this game? any reasons out there why this game fell into the TV black hole? Thanks for the radio link, BTW. m
43rd minute: GOAL! GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! ARMAS SCORES! on a ball from Mapp. Wide-open match continues, with us now on-top. Huzzah!
Here's something interesting... When the Kansas City fans saw the score of 1-0 for the Fire, they began a "Chicago Fire" chant.
Makes sense. I hope we started a chant for the Galaxy...Go Gals!...wait...did I just say that? Mapp out for Beasley makes sense if he's still a bit hurt and wasn't up to the task of getting beat-up by Daryll Powell. Good to have Beas in there. Yellow for Boca. Is the midfield playing well? Because I'd feel better with some more hustle and muscle in for Williams. But it seems to be working...
64th Minute Beasley sets the record! (Mastroeni Yellow Card!) I'm watching the Galaxy game--they've had a few good chances (Ruiz is quite good when he doesn't fall down...)--and the big, clean grass pitch is gorgeous! Dipsy in for Ralph! WOW!
GOALLLL! (and goal...)[and GOAL!] BEASLEY SCORES! 3-1 Fire, 66th minute! Roberts in for Henderson for Colo. Beckerman, too. I'd like to see Marsch, Perez or Futagaki for Razov soon. Or, hell, Bolanos! Remember him? Dipsy almost scores...wow... Oh balls. ZZ scores. 3-2. C'mon, guys, wake up... 75rd minute, lets get it done, boys. This announcer rocks. Get him on the tele. [GOALLL!!! 2-0 We want the Shield tonight!]
84thminute C'mon guys, it's Jesse Marsch time...we've got three forwards in the game. If one of them scores, fine, but... LA has been so nice to us this year, it's unbelievable! Blake (???) on for Carrieri. No hat-trick this time, boyo. C. J. Brown on for Williams. I'll take it! 6 mins +
