Taking 4 points from two of the best teams from last year is not bad for a truck stop owner and a shitty college coach. This thread is starting out the year even more out of touch than last year.
Considering the circumstances behind the club last year, this was a stupid thread to make then, and now it appears to be, for the time being, even dumber now. But since the East Coast pessimist has me on ignore I don't expect much conversation about it.
Another blown lead. 2 more points dropped. A completely healthy and full strength squad falling behind an Atlanta team decimated by offseason departures and injuries. Porter will need to do something other than just throw the kids out in the yard if they are to line up to expectations this season. I still am holding onto my 2nd place prediction. But seeing what Thierry Henry has done in just a few weeks in Montreal compared to Porter’s year and a half in Columbus shows what we are up against. Hopefully raw talent can overcome a braintrust bereft of ideas.
Except when he gets constant pushback he puts those posters on ignore, allegedly. So, poke the bear and run? [emoji57]
FFS. This place causes me to lean pro-hang in a Fire Porter thread. And everyone here knows that I am a Porter fan. Is that stick poking a dead bear?
I wonder if that bear is old enough to remember that in 2019 the Crew claimed 13 of 8 available points, losing only once in their first six games, before proceeding to mostly roll around in their own shit for the remainder of the season. Maybe it's a smart bear that knows a thing or two about small sample sizes.
Montreal has done EXACTLY what we have; won their home opener and drew on the road. And Atlanta played Nashville’s first ever game and Cincinnati.
Did Montreal play against 10 men for 87 minutes? Were Atlanta's chances boosted by their opponents missing their best player and a perennial MVP candidate like Lodiero? If we are going to qualify every other team's results, we should do the same for our beloved Columbus Crew.
I’m not the one looking to qualify things. YOU are. By saying we’re “falling behind Atlanta” and referring to their injuries (when they’ve only been without their star for one match, a home match against the worst team in the league).
Arguing that six points is not more than four, or suggesting that 4 points is not behind 6 points in the standings is an unexpected hill to choose to die on. You are full surprises, my man. Logic, not so much. But surprises, yes indeed.
As is bumping a Fire Porter discussion after a win and a draw against two quality opponents. But hey, you do you.
Fire Caleb Porter -- sure we have 4/6 to start but I am still salty from his anti-Sigi'ness from last April through mid-July. He is a weasel and coaches teams to snatch ties from the jaws of victory.
Porter said his typical day starts with a conference call with team and league updates at 9:00 a.m.. #Crew96 has a coaches call at 11:00 a.m.. 1:00 p.m. is a leadership council meeting. And then 3:00 p.m. is a call with Tim Miller and Tim Bezbatchenko.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) March 24, 2020 Over a million dollars a year, for 4 phone calls a day. The complete lack of shame. What a scam artist.
