From @hangthadj in the original thread: "Most all great coaches at least two thinks in common. They have been hired, and they will be fired" - Timo Lekoski. (Or maybe Fabio Capello, or possibly Larry Bowa.) I figured it is time to reboot the 3-year+ old and 3,000+ post thread now that we're moving into a new era of the club. We have 2 elite offensive players yet our offense is the slowest in the league. We won a championship a season-and-a-half ago, but also didn't qualify twice and are sitting below the line today. When will the Crew come to their senses and fire Caleb Porter and hire a better manager? That's for us to discuss.
We need a massive reprogramming of CoachBot, but the AI is resisting change. Time to pull the power supply.
This should be enough justification for firing. We need faster play, which is what the roster (nagbe aside) is built for. Porter said Cucho was his top choice. He needs to use his strengths.
I'm not optimistic that Porter will get the best from Cucho but CP isn't going to be fired any time soon. Maybe at the end of the season if we miss the playoffs. In the meantime let's see what he can do with an upgrade at striker.
"I can't believe @hardhead started a 'Fire Caleb Porter: The Cucho Era' thread before Cucho has even been coached by Porter. Does he even like the team? Why does he even mod here? - Sargent @stanger, probably.
Apparently Head coach Caleb Porter said he looked at probably 50 strikers and Cucho Hernandez was the top choice of #Crew96. He thanked the ownership for the big investment and said it makes a statement for the Black & Gold.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) June 21, 2022
Im not everyone but, I do. Good coaches can make weaknesses into strengths. Porter is not a good developer of talent. One measurement is his inability to turn assets into products that can be sold to higher leagues. That part is not dependent on win/loss record.....which also sucks for him.
If I recall correctly, most pundits picked the Crew to make the playoffs this season. In the Athletic's public poll (small sample size but I'd assume "more informed" fans), the Crew were picked to make the playoffs. This team has enough talent to be competitive in this league and make the playoffs. We are not playing up to our potential at this point. CB9K is holding this team back.
Then 110% fire Porter right now. I’ve been blaming Bez for our poorly constructed roster, but apparently it’s Porter that has been making multiple shit signings.
Usually when you are doing basic AI/Machine learning you want to use more than 50 images of a striker to train the model....maybe thats why he thinks neck tats mean something
When I look at the roster, I see a lot of solid and good pieces who are all underperforming. When nearly every player on the field is underperforming, it’s not the players. (The bloated salaries is another problem entirely)
Wow. The media is really holding Porter's feet to the fire. Make the playoffs, they demand!!! Be one of 14 teams to make the playoffs! The wheels are already in motion. The local Crew media, to the extent that they even exist, has essentially served as a Fox News type propaganda arm of tghe Crew the team was "saved." Here, Arace, maybe the lone critical voice against Porter in recent months sets the bar laughably low for success, greasing the wheels for a Porter extension. Everything about this club, and the culture surrounding it is a joke.
I don't think I've ever disagreed as vehemently with a post or opinion of yours as much as I do with the above.
Take away the final sentence/paragraph. You really think that the likes of Meyers, Arace, et al are covering this team with a critical eye?
