DC UNITED SCUM. This asshole thinks he can sink the Crew like he sunk our national team? This man should be ostracized from US Soccer forever for what happened in Trinidad and Tobago, and we are giving him a cushioned landing spot. This shit should not stand. If you are a man or woman who booed Jozy and Michael post disaster, you should be outraged by this hire as well. We are Columbus Crew. Columbus Crew is not a retirement home. We are not a rehabilitation center. We are not your personal reclamation project. We deserve better. DC UNITED SCUM OUT.
Thanks Kyle. I appreciate the nomination. But, I have to decline. I belong to the people....not above the people. #onelove
I'd be 100% for that. He is currently 'self-employed' as a 'consultant' according to his LinkedIn. Make a call Crew FO. I will say though, seeing names like "Porter" and "Arena" knocked around, I think whoever is making the decisions is trying to make a splash with a big name, and not necessarily make the right hire. It also just seems lazy to only look at Americans. I won't say it's worrying, but its... what is less than "worrying"? Maybe I'd say it's a bit closed-minded.
Some of @Sirk's best stories involve Arena's arrogance in post-game interviews, whether it be blowing off a question a "Whateva" comment or correcting someone's pronunciation of "Reyna." Can you imagine Arena in an interview with Dom Tiberi? Oh, holy hell.
Ok. You've sold me on hiring Arena. @hardhead or @Kyle Crew, please lock this thread and start a "Hire Former NAMBLA President as GM" thread.
Arena is past it. He'll just bring in a bunch of 30+ year old squad players and old europeans. South and Central America offers much better value for money. And need to buy young so there is re-sell value. That is an extra revenue stream for the club; and Arena has NEVER had to work that way, doubt he'd start now (unless he's super desperate for a paycheck or something i suppose).
