What on earth was Gimenez doing shortly before the winning goal? He brought the ball back into our box and then lost possession deep in our end when he could have cleared it from much further up the field.
I really do not see how Gimenez has Ever been better or even as good as Dax despite Dax being older and slower.
You've got a place to stay, if you want. Edyta and I would be happy to host. Plenty of room and we 12 acres of land for easy cross country. Granite Peak is 5 minutes from me. 4 brew pubs within 10 minutes and 7 within 25 minutes. It's not a bad life up here...once I finish my August from hell.
I don't know why you all hate Offor so much. He's genuinely made things happen on the pitch. Sure, he's not a DP level player and isn't lighting things up; but there's no player on this team that's doing either of those things right now. Offor is having a solid season and has a good future ahead of him, I don't know why you're all so against him.
He’s not deserving of the minutes he’s getting - he wouldn’t be getting so much playing time on a good team. He has shown some skill dribbling and moving the ball over large chunks of field, but his first touch is horrible and his nose for the goal is almost non-existent right now. I don’t think anyone hates him- he’s on the Fire so personally I want him to succeed when he is playing, he just hasn’t shown much this season that says he should be getting as much playing time as he has. Potential is great but until it’s realized on the pitch he should be getting far fewer minutes than he has been. And yeah, we don’t have many better options but that doesn’t make seeing him in the starting 11 or coming on as a sub any more exciting- he just hasn’t been very good for much of the season.
I'm just questioning your evaluation skills. Our offense is crap and he may be just a little less crappy. I agree with @harrylee773 on any other team he doesn't get the minutes he is getting here.
He doesn't start for any other team in this league, but he's playing for this team. And this team's only other option at that position is a guy who has somehow found a way to make counterattacks the least dangerous thing this team can do. Offor has a few good moments a game while our DP has maybe one good moment per month. Saying that he is comparatively better than a lot of the team is a low bar to clear for the Fire, but that still counts as something. We plucked this guy out of Latvia with no expectations. He's already done more than Arshakyan. Stop treating him like he's just the new Arshakyan. I don't think he should start next season either if we can get a real DP striker, but that doesn't mean I don't think he works off the bench.
It seems like you’re mistaking people saying he doesn’t deserve the minutes he’s getting to hate- nobody mentioned Arshakyan and like I said, the fact that our other options suck doesn’t make him exciting to watch. I can only speak for myself but I’d love it if he started scoring or threatening to score or creating chances for others to score consistently. The fact that he hasn’t even with all of the playing time he has gotten is why I don’t like to see him on the pitch, not any kind of hatred or anything. Hell, we threw in Gutierrez at striker at the end of the Columbus game and he created more multiple chances in the half hour or so that he played, one leading to Luka’s goal. At this point, I’d rather see a midfielder like Luka up top than Offor, and I really wish that wasn’t the case. Maybe next year he’ll develop some of the potential, fix his first touch, become a legit threat on offense, and we’ll be happy to see him on the field, but this year, I’d rather see someone, anyone, else getting consistent minutes up top than him.
What I ate for dinner last night developed, too. I don’t see any signs that he is developing or that he will be significantly better than he is.
I see the parallels in your analogy. Offor may develop a bit more, but his ceiling is a hard working athlete without the skills, or instinct to be anything more than a squad player. He may not even be that much.
