It is a good opportunity, but the pessimist in me says they'll squander it and plop in another useless insider. The optimist in me thinks that maybe they've clued in to the fan dissent, understand that they've screwed up royally and seek out someone with the right credentials. We'll see.
After reading the recent posts in this thread today, I'd hire BHTC Mike. I really think the TFC problem is twofold at MLSE: Nobody at MLSE above the manager is qualified to assess the manager's performance Management undermines itself and has a tendency to create rifts and camps We saw this back when Ken Dryden was president of the leafs and we see it today when a former interim GM in Earl Cochrane is still making player personnel decisions. Based on who was instrumental in getting TA an increased job description, I think the rot goes all the way to the top with Tannenbaum.
It's related to your first bullet, but I'd add that management and below are accountable for team performance, but nobody above that level is. So we end up with revolving doors with players and managers, but nobody at the top gets removed for poor team performance.
Toronto FC should sign Sven Goran Eriksson as he would make them a contender in the MLS and could possibly bring in Owen Hargreaves as one of his assistants
