I know of accommodation in Hartebeespoort - between Pretoria and Rustenburg. 2 bedrooms - one with double bed, one with 2 singles - own bathroom. Pm me for contact details.
I want to find accommodation in Rustenburg for 2 nights: I want to be at the Sun City in the evening of the first night, then going back to the hotel, in the morning going again to Sun City and in the evening to watch the R16 game in Rustenburg. Do someone find a good accommodation there? Thanks.
I have found a place in Pretoria with VERY reasonable prices. The accommodation consist of self catering flats and the owner can provide transport as well. Free gym, DSTV and cleaning services. PM me if you are interested and I'll send his details to you.
Here is a tip that may help. To see where areas are located - use google earth. It will give you a very good idea as to the location you are looking at in relation to other places where you would like to be and you can see the stadiums clearly. If you want to get a feel for the area, maybe do a search on www.private property.co.za. This is one of the most popular websites for property in SA and if you do a quick search on a particular suburb, The results will show you the general style / condition of accommodation in that area. Personally I would not recommend staying in JHB city center, so if you have various options and 1 is not in the city center, I'd take that 1. This is just my opinion though. I would also stay away from Yeoville and Hillbrow. Gronum, do you maybe know the specific areas referred to in the post above? I don't really know those areas?
Hi, What is better in Cape Town: a. to be near the beach? (On Beach RD.) b. in the city (Long Street) I'm asking in terms of security, restaurant, night life etc. Thanks!
Near the beach is safer. Try get as close to camps bay as possible. Nice nightlife there as well.. will be more costly tho
The public transport in SA does not nearly compare to that of Europe or the USA and I will definitely recommend that people hire cars if they want to get around independently.
think i saw several posts related to difficulty in finding accom in rustenburg. thought i'll add something that i saw..each host city has its website where you can find lots of information on accom, things to do, restaurants etc etc Here is the one for Rustenburg. Look under Bed&Breakfast for contact information - http://www.rustenburg.gov.za/fifaworldcup/ Edit - found another one - http://www.bafokeng.com/2010
If anyone is still looking for accommodation in the Durban area, then please PM me and I can point you in the right direction. Kim
Can anyone recommend me a good hotel/hostel/B&B in Capetown (21 - 29 June) and Durban (18 - 20 June)? I am having problems finding one. I hope someone can help me with hotel as what this forum has helped me before in Joburg. please email me at gameson AT gmail DOT com as my inbox is full. Thank you so much for your help.
The manager at the ideally located Formula 1 at Cape Town Foreshore (no car required) told me yesterday that he has availability for every single day for the next month. Further out and requiring your own car is the Formula 1 Milnerton location.
Thanks, BoughtMyPoints, I was gonna ask here if foreshore area is a nice area. Thank you for confirming that. I will book now for several days. Now if only I need to spend 8 days in Cape Town. How many days would be enough to see all Cape Town?
Outside the WC, I would not recommend the foreshore area as it would tend to be too quiet and desolate, inviting potential ambush. However, this hotel just happens to be no more than 100m from the actual bus stop for the stadium shuttle and the area will be full of people, besides being at the start of a dedicated fan walk towards the waterfront and onto the stadium itself. If you get "into" Cape Town, 8 days won't be enough. But we need co-operating weather. Rain due again on Sunday ... perfect for the big rugby match, a day late to spoil the opening WC match in CT.
Which area is safe and close to the action in Durban? I have two choices, one is in Durban North (Marine Drive) and one is in Durban South (Kelvin Place). Both are quite close to the beach. Also is car a necessaty in Durban? Thanks.
What is the best area to look for accommodation in Cape Town? (regarding safety, night life etc.) Thanks.
This has been asked before and I think the basic view was the nearer the stadium the better, or go to Camps bay if you want a holiday resort.
I have never been to SA before so I'm only going on what I have read and others have said, but both seems to be good places to stay. The fan fest is near the harbour end of Long Street. Some of the V&A hotels cut prices recently to about $150 a night which could be an option. I settled on staying in de Waterkant, for what it's worth!
