According to www.swiss-soccer.ch, which is a great website, too bad I can only read it through babelfish, FC Aarau is going to have enough money to continue. This is a good thing. A bad thing, FC Zurich announced that they lost 3.8 million CHF last year. Not the best of news for a team. From my count, that makes four teams in financial problems. FC Aarau- seems to have found a way to make it. FC Zurich- not in real trouble from whatI understood Fc Wil- possible merger with St. Gallen might be the only thing to save them. Lausanne-sport- will survive, but may join with Fc Sion to form a super Vaud-Valais-Fribourg club. Also talks with FC Basel to be their farm team could help the financial situiation.
Today's update. 18 December 2002 Lausanne-Sport has a new president and a new financial plau. They owe 4.5 million CHF debt, but have found a way to help their creditors extend the repayment. The new president has said that they will stay at the Pointaise. Also the rumored junction with Stade Lausanne-Ouchy is just a rumor with nouthing behind it. The president has also made a bold statement he said that "In five years, Lausanne Sports will be the pride of Switzerland." That is a big order for a club that will be in the LNB round this spring, and there next fall at least. It would take one and a half years for them to reach LNA at the least, leaving them with about three before they were to become the "pride of Switzerland." I think they would have to win the UEFA Cup, of the CL to do that. Second, FC Aarau. The LNA president himself gave the club some money to help it stay financially viable, and avoid relagation to the 5th league. This brought up conflict of intrests concerns, but with a team as bad as FC Aarau has been this year, I doubt that there were conflict of interests there. It seems they will survuve also. That just leaves the FC Wil situiation. Who knows what will happen with them.
The city of Lausanne has agreed not to bill LS for past bills, and will not send new bills, ie. energy/rent/gas/h2o for at least the next three years. This saves 1.4 million CHF owed in back payments, and will save lots of money in the future. It seems that the people of Lausanne were fed up with the old president of LS and now that there is a new one, they are more positive to the club. I wish that I could get my gas/h20/rent/engery bills to be waived. That would be really nice.
I guess that the guy who looks like an ape is better than I thought. Bayren Munich coach, Ottmar Hitzfeld has given FC Aarau about 100,000 Euros to meet financial needs. According to uefa.com, Hitzfeld coached at Fc Aarau early in his career, and was doing this as a repayment for what FC Aarau did for him. Lausanne-Sport is saved. The city has agreed to bail out the team. Here are the details: "The numbers apply for three years. Starting with 2003, an to reply to the extreme situiation of the club faced with death, the city of Lausanne has decided on a contribution of 250 000 CHF, a forgiving of 231 996 CHF owed in back debts, support for a youth team of 100 000 CHF, also a foriveness of rent (103 808 CHF), other bills (30 000 CHF) and energy (30 000 CHF). For 2004, the city is comitted to support the junior team with 100 000 CHF, and to assume the rent payment (103 808 CHF) and energy(30 000). The Same for 2005" from: http://www.24heures.ch/home/journal....php?Page_ID=6447&art_id=21058&Rubrique=Sport Not a bad beal for a team ready to dissapear.
Now is some of the other teams could figure out how to get on more solid footing. How? I am not sure, but mabye in another thread we can spout our financial wisdom.
