So it looks like the lottery for the third round of the FA Cup is this Friday at 2:00pm! A whopping two weeks before the round kicks off.

The round takes place Fri Nov 21 to Sun Nov 30.... perhaps a home-and-away aggregate series, solely played on weekends? We can only hope...

Surely the 32 competing clubs must be known by now, and yet the KFA website doesn't have any such list. Bleh.

The last line says "Seoul and surrounding region/suburbs"... does this mean where the draw will take place, or where the actual matches will take place? If all the matches are up north, there will be hell to pay!

Can't seem to find a list of the 32 clubs for Friday's lottery.... but here's some amateur/semi-pro results from August.

So it's 12 K-League teams, 10 K2-League teams, the 8 winners below... but that leaves 2 more spots. Hmm....

    August 17 - 2nd round results (from http://sports.esports.co.kr/soccer/...ccer&page=9&num=5842&ref=5842&step=0&ansnum=0):

    2003 FAÄÅ 2ȸÀü 3ÀÏ° °æ±âÀÏÁ¤

    *12½Ã Çö´ë¹ÌÆ÷Á¶¼± 8 : 0 ACE(2Á¾Å¬·´)
    *12½Ã Çѱ¹Ã¶µµ 2 : 0 »çÄ¿¸Å´Ï¾Æ(2Á¾Å¬·´)

    *16½Ã 30ºÐ ¼þ½Ç´ë 5 : 1 ±¸¸® EOS(2Á¾Å¬·´)

Only two K2-League clubs involved in this preliminary round.... odd. Surely the other K2 clubs are involved?

Mipo easily won 6-0 over amateur "giants" ACE... and Korea National Railroad won 2-0 over another strong amateur side, Soccer Mania.

I'm not understanding how this FA cup works... If I go to korea and get some guys and register as a team, we could be in the FA cup? THese teams look like churches, business firm friends and college students. No K-league teams are involved either? just weird...

I believe the set-up is identical to the FA Cup in England.

Before K-League clubs join, there are preliminary rounds to weed out most of the crap lower teams. That's what the first two rounds of the Korean FA Cup have been for.

K-League clubs will join, but not until the third round.

Yes, anyone can join, but amateur clubs who wish to compete join the fray in April, and have to survive elimination rounds through until August.

Anyway, we'll see the fixtures on Friday after the draw.

Hrmmmm.... the little blurb on the KFA website about Friday's FA Cup draw has vanished just as quickly as it disappeared.

Perhaps having the draw two weeks before the third round commences was too early.... we don't want to give the K-League clubs any forewarning, lest they have time to advertise the matches and actually draw crowds!

Some results from 10th August, I think this includes most of the other K-2 clubs...

    ±¤¿î´ë 4 : 2 ±â¾÷ÀºÇà(»ýȰüÀ°ÆÀ)
    ¼ö¿ø½Ãû 6 : 0 ÆòÈ_¹ß·¹¿À(»ýȰüÀ°ÆÀ)
    °í·Á´ë 3 : 0 ½Å¿ìȸ(2Á¾ Ŭ·´)
    °Ç±¹´ë 3 : 2 µ¿ÀÇ´ë
    ¼_»ê½Ã¹Î 3 : 0 Çö´ëÀÚµ¿Â÷(»ýȰüÀ°ÆÀ)
    ¾ÆÁÖ´ë 4 : 2 È£¼_´ë Æò»ý±³À°¿ø
    È«ÀÍ´ë 2 : 1 Æ÷Ç×½Ãû(2Á¾ Ŭ·´)
    Àç´É±³À°(2Á¾ Ŭ·´) 1 : 1 (5PK4) °æÀÏ´ë

So there are 8 winners here, 8 winners from the round above, 12 K-league sides... we're 4 short at the moment?

The 3 results from 3rd August were preliminaries for a further round, so we can't include them here... (my bad).

If so, it looks like we have the following sides involved:

    K-League (12):
Seongnam, Ulsan, Cheonnam, Cheonbuk, Suwon, Daejeon, Anyang, Pohang, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, Bucheon

Qualifiers (17): Baejae Uni, Bongshin Club, Hyundai Mipo, Korea National Railroad, Hannam Uni, Myeongji Uni, Yong-in Uni, Sunshil Uni, Gwangwoon Uni, Suwon City Hall, Goryo Uni, Konguk Uni, Seosan Shimin, Aju Uni, Hongik Uni, Jaenung Education, Seoul City Hall

Still missing 3 teams at the moment...

Actually, the only K2 club among these 16 teams is Seosan City.

Add Suwon City Hall and Seoul City Hall, as well as Mipo and Railroad, and there's only 5 K2 clubs in the last 32. Kinda odd.

I wonder how early the K2 clubs had to join the fray?

So going back to the very first post in this thread... will all the matches be in Greater Seoul?

"Seoul and 8 neighbouring communities"... perhaps:

    -Seoul
    -Anyang
    -Bucheon
    -Suwon
    -Seongnam
    -Goyang
    -Incheon
    -?
    -?

Guess this means at least two more LONG bus rides... :p
