This is what I think the final standings will be: Bold means playoffs East West 1.Chicago 1.Seattle 2.New York 2.Chivas 3.Toronto 3.Salt Lake 4.Columbus 4.LA 5.Kansas City 5.Colorado 6.Philadelphia 6.Dallas 7.New England 7.San Jose 8.D.C. 8.Houston Disagree with me? Think I'm crazy? I know some guesses are a little strange(NYRB,CHIVAS,HOUSTON,DC).
Using the Code tags makes the formatting a little better. I don't think it helps the accuracy of the picks much.
Well since we're playing a wild eyed guessing game I'll also throw in my USOC and Supporter Shield guesses as well. East: 1. The Massive Club (SS) 2. chicago (USOC-it's been how long since they won this??) 3. D.C. 4. Union 5. TFC 6. Revs 7. Wiz 8. NJRB West: 1. Seattle 2. L.A. 3. Houston 4. Dallas 5. RSL 6. Rapids 7. Seedy Chivas 8. San Jose
THE ULTRA: Not bad guess but: The Red bulls will do better I think; they have been hot in preseason. Not sure how much better but not bottom dwellers so much. In the west I agree also as things look now but RSL should be a little higher; unless they have a member away they need playing for the WC.
Newtex: Houston @5 and NY@5 might be more realistic. I know Houston lost key player, but what about Brian and other key players still there. NY could be dangerous but don't know tell I see them in MLS play.
East: 1. Columbus 2. Chicago 3. DC United 4. TFC 5. NE 6. KC 7. NJ 8. Philly West: 1. Seattle 2. Houston 3. LA 4. Dallas 5. RSL 6. Rapids 7. SJ 8. Chivas USA MLS Cup: Seattle beats Columbus Supporters Shield: Seattle USOC: Seattle beats Chicago Canadian Championship: Montreal
Toronto ahead of Columbus, and in 3rd place in the East? Please put down whatever it is that you are smoking.
^^^ That and the fact that he has Houston finishing last. Maybe you mean that's how bad we started last year? But you know how that matters at season's end. We may not be as good but you don't know the coach and team. It's called consistency, btw. Trying to be cute or don't know a damn thing, I guess.
East 1. Columbus 2. Chicago 3. New York 4. Kansas City 5. Toronto 6. New England 7. D.C. 8. Philadelphia West 1. Real Salt Lake 2. Seattle 3. Chivas USA 4. LA Galaxy 5. Houston 6. Dallas 7. Colorado 8. San Jose Columbus vs. Houston Chicago vs. NY.................. Columbus vs. NY ........Columbus v. Seattle RSL vs. LA Galaxy............ LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Seattle vs. Chivas USA
These lists couldn't be more baseless or trivial. I can tell it's a slow day on the message boards...
Oooo. Fun with numbers! East 1. Columbus 2. Toronto 3. Chicago 4. New England 5. New York 6. DC 7. Kansas City 8. Philly West 1. Seattle 2. Los Angeles 3. Houston 4. Chivas 5. RSL 6. Colorado 7. Dallas 8. San Jose Playoffs Columbus vs RSL Toronto vs. Chicago-------Columbus vs. Chicago-----Seattle vs. Chicago Seattle vs Chivas----------Seattle vs. Los Angeles Los Angeles vs. Houston
East: 1. Columbus (SS Winner) 2. Chicago 3. Philly 4. Toronto 5. New England 6. New York 7. DC United 8. Kansas City West: 1. Seattle 2. LA Galaxy 3. Houston 4. Dallas 5. RSL 6. Colorado 7. Chivas 8. San Jose
EAST 1. Columbus (their attack should be very Latin and very good) 2. Chicago (Assuming John signs,a potent duo forms) 3. Toronto ( home field advantage) 4. NYRB (i think they will be much better then some believe) 5. KC 6. DCU (defense is still highly suspect) 7. NER 8. Phila (unless several players play over their heads, i dont see it) WEST 1. LA (I believe in Bruce.......in MLS) 2. SSFC (see Toronto) 3. FCD (cant wait to see these guys play) 4. Houston 5. Chivas 6. RSL (will miss Yura) 7. Rapids (ehh) 8. SJ (god help these guys) i see this year (praying it happens in its enterity) as a top heavy one in each conference. I dont know that NYRB is ready to be a fourth place team, and all could hinge on some relative wildcards (the yougins and Kandji) but i think they and some other eastern team sneak in. the west doesnt look great past the sounders, we'll see.
East...pts 1. Fire...45+ 2. Crew...45+ 3. TFC...40-45 4. Union...~40 5. NYRB...~40 6. KC...35-40 7. DCU...~30 8. Revs...30- West...pts 1. SSFC...45+ 2. LA...45+ 3. Dynamo...40-45 4. RSL...~40 5. Chivas...~40 6. FCD...~35 7. Rapids...~35 8. San Jose...30- I feel Novak will do very well with his club towards the end of the season, but they will struggle early. All of this is subject to change if any of the anticipated post World Cup signings go through.
San Jose is in much better shape to start this season than last year, when Max (kiss of death) Bretos predicted San Jose would make it to MLS Cup. I see 40+ points as a very real possibility.
It's called makin' predictions and havin' a little fun. (It's even better when the predictions are called up at the end of the year to see how everyone did. ) A little change of pace from talking pro/rel or the nightmare of the CBA negotiations... I'll be doing mine after I think about it a bit...
If there actually is a season... EAST 1. Columbus 2. Chicago 3. New England 4. Toronto 5. New York 6. DC United 7. Kansas City 8. Philadelphia WEST 1. Seattle 2. Salt Lake 3. Los Angeles 4. Houston 5. Dallas 6. Chivas 7. Colorado 8. San Jose
EAST 1. Chicago 2. Columbus 3. Toronto 4. New York 5. DCU 6. New England 7. KC 8. Union WEST 1. Seattle 2. Los Angeles 3. Colorado 4. RSL 5. Houston 6. Dallas 7. San Jose 8. Chivas Ehh, i really have no idea, but I expect Chicago, Seattle, Columbus, TFC, and LA to all be pretty solid teams.
EAST 1 CHICAGO [collins john and mcbride same duo as with fulham and with a solid defense they look good] 2 RBNY [dumping cepero hurt but gaining some defense and c. robinson with help one of the top coaches hans backe rise this team up] 3 Columbus [about the same as last year while others improved] 4 WIZARDS [dumping lopez and most of the offense, but they solidified their defense kind of like a chivas of last year no offense good defense] 5 REVOLUTION [ no ralston, no larentowitz , no dm in w thompson + no depth] 6 UNION [good young team they'll start off rough but in 2011 expect a brighter future] 7 DC UNITED [where is the offense ever supposed to come from? pontius is the only guy i expect that can score over 5 goals] 8 TFC [ the amazing midfield they had is gone and unless obrien white and alli gerba spark this offense sorry tfc but it doesnt look good with mo managing your roster] WEST 1 LA GALAXY [not much of a loss yet a gain of mathis who had a comeback year last season and 3 solid young brazilians i pick la on top again] 2 S.S.F.C. [ they had a great team last year and improved their forwards this year but the question is... can they put the ball in the back of the net on the road like they had trouble last year? 3 San Jose QUAKES [ suprising but good offseason acquisitions] 4 FC DALLAS [ much stronger with hartman in net and still the best offense] 5 RAPIDS [ overall the team covered up their losses and gained an extra midfielder in larentowitz in case colin clark ever gets reinured he can be the one to step up] 6 RSL [ if no other forward comes in then rsl has lost a little bit of offense they still appear competitive but even last year they had a losing record until an outstanding finish] 7 CHIVAS USA [victorine? NO Marsh? NO nagamura? NO this team needs something huge and romero can't cover for it all 8 HOUSTON DYNAMO [ who knows? if something good comes along they may be on top but with no ricardo clark and no holden where is the offense yet again? ching isnt even close to being enough especially considering his main priority revolves around the world cup]
We'll see. TFC is supposedly on the verge of signing three of the trialists that have been with the team, plus a fourth who has just joined them. The fourth being Egyptian Ibrahim Said, who may be the help at CB that TFC direly needs. I'm not entirely sure what to make of the team just yet, but the Charleston tournament could be a good indicator.
Sounders problem last year wasn't scoring goals on the road, it was getting scored on away that was the trouble. The Sounders only scored four less goals on the road vs. home, but the were scored on nine more times on the road vs home. The Sounders also had problems scoring goals at home at the end of the season. They only scored two goals the last five home games and both of those were in the last game of the season.
