He has also been the most consistent and hardest working out of all of them.

    Figo talking about Cristiano Ronaldo

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    http://skysports.planetfootball.com...hampions_League
Real Madrid star Luis Figo believes that his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo has the potential to become the world's greatest player.

The 20-year-old is currently learning his trade under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, and has made great strides since joining the English giants.

Whilst early impressions suggested a magnificently gifted entertainer, Ronaldo has since evolved an incisive cutting edge and is developing into a key player at Old Trafford.

He has contributed with seven goals already this term, and has proved an astute purchase from Sporting Lisbon.

Ronaldo made a huge impact at Euro 2004 alongside his legendary team mate, and Figo has now speculated that the winger could be better than anyone else in world football, even Chelsea's own wonder kid.

"Cristiano Ronaldo, together with Arjen Robben, are two of the most promising players around," Figo stated.

"I know Ronaldo well from having played alongside him for the national team, as he is Portuguese I put him above everyone else.

"He has sufficient qualities to turn out to be the number one player in the world.

"He is barely 20 years old yet he could turn out to be better than I have ever seen."

The two could face each other in the UEFA Champions League this season, although have tricky ties against Italian sides Juventus and Milan to negotiate first.

it looks like his destination will be Manchester United,

Great news, I just hope Figo can maintain at least this season's level of performance once 2006 rolls around.

I read somewhere that Inter was interested in Figo but with their stadium ban by UEFA, money may be tight.

What? We want him in Sporting to celebrate our 100th. Don't say it's ludricous, because we are looking into it. The major obstacle is his salary, but the freaking guy isin't in need of money, and would prefer Sporting over some 2nd rate club in Englang or Italy.

Figo to Man U rumours continue. I guess because Queiroz is there:

    Futebol Internacional
Figo poderá ingressar no Manchester United

MU made a official offer for Figo thru Carlos Queiroz

    QUEIROZ TERÁ RECOMENDADO CONTRATAÇÃO
    "Devils" querem Figo

Scolari will meet with Figo this month to discuss his possible return to the NT.

Real Madrid's Portuguese midfielder Luis Figo will announce whether or not he will return to international football by May 15, Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said Wednesday.

"Until the 15th we are going to meet to have coffee, to tell some tales and then talk about what is definite and if Figo can return or not," he told reporters.

Scolari said he would make some proposals to Figo to see his reaction. He added that the fact that the player has been sidelined recently at the Spanish giants would not hinder his return to the Portuguese squad.

"The work in the national team is separate from the work he does, or does not do, at Real Madrid," he said.

Last month Figo hinted that he was on the verge of a comeback, saying that because he wasn't starting regularly for his club he felt less tired and could then return to the Portuguese team.

"I retired from the international scene because I was tired and I wanted to dedicate my remaining years to my club. But as I am not a first choice selection at the moment I have started to think differently," he said.

Sounds like we will finally get an answer.
