rumour has it that real madrid would off load louis figo for £22 million (ish) in the summer mainly
because figo has not settled into the side.
BUT they may do a straight swop with dave beckham.. if all this is true should utd do the deal?
    who is better figo? beckham?

    Figo

As much as I think Becks is a great player, I would have to choose Figo, he has more strength, and much more skill on the ball, Becks is a better crosser of the ball, and a freekick expert but he can't take on players like Figo does so I would go for Figo

    Not going to happen.

The PLC will not sanction that sort of expenditure on a player who is 31 by the end of the year and will therefore have a constantly diminishing re-sale value.

Beckham is better for Man U due to their reliance on quality crosses. Besides they've got a similiar player to Figo in Veron.

Figo's the better player by a long shot.

Figo has better ball skill than Beckham, but I also think Figo's game has come down. I'd keep Beckham for ManU.

Giggs does better when he plays closer to the top. He's one of the best dribblers in the Premiership IMO. He scored a very nice goal today.

That is a point that many of the posters on these boards fail to see.Sometimes great players just don't fit in right and look-well ordinary.

I remember the Ian Rush years quite well.
Fantastic goal scorer, one of the best ever to play.
Went to Italy and was dire.
The style of play didn't suit him at all.Made him look like that useless fucker Heskey looks like today.

totally agree i dont think overall beckhams commitment to man utd can be bettered either.
there must be a question mark over figos commitment, and i wonder if he's been over rated !
he's not achieved much ,considering the high esteem he seems to be held in..

I think Beckham's the better player.

He's a better crosser and passer than Figo, he's superb at tracking back and he is a toally commited player.

Figo may have a few more tricks up his sleave but that doesn't count for much when his commitment lacks. I think Figo's a good player but overraed by those who get dazzled by fancy 'ball skills', no matter how ineffective they may be.

Add to that that Figo's 3 years older than Beckham.

I'd take Giggs over Figo. Figo's best looks to be behind him.

I'd have Beckham, because he's only a ponce off the field.

Two players that play in different styles. If Beckham had to move to Spain he would have to adapt and change some of his style. I think his searching crosses and passes would stay and would help the team he`s with....in any league.

Figo likewise would need to change his style if he moved to the premiership. He wont have as much time on the ball to pull out his usual tricks and he would need to speed everything up to keep pace with the team. Why do you think Veron had a shshshsite first couple of seasons.

As both players stand at the moment Beckham is the better player as Figo is getting past it and Beckham is reaching his peak.
