Luis Figo has spoken of his move from Barcelona to Real Madrid, saying the Catalans hid the truth and actually wanted to sell him. "It was a complicated decision and difficult to make for someone like me who had a stable life, but I ended up changing shirts as I felt that they did not recognise everything that I had done for the club," he said. "I had hoped to stay with Barcelona, but I believe that the objective of the directors of Barcelona was to camouflage the truth. "For financial reasons, they had to sell the likes of myself and Rivaldo - players who were capable of still giving a lot to the club."
Yeah, I read that on tribalfootball.com and was appalled, frankly (tony says in his best Seamus Malin voice). Figo is so full of it. Perez offered him a contract, Figo and his people thought it was a way to make easy money because Perez wouldn't win. And all of a sudden, Perez won, Figo realized he was committed to RM, and now he is rewriting history to suit himself. You know Luis, after the world cup you had, you should be grateful your national team even calls you up. No tony, how do you really feel? Tony
Amen Tony, keep shoutin'. Do I wish we had kept Figo around? Yes. But my response to Luis would be this: Get over it. 2 years later you're still whining about it while you spend your world record signing money. jc
