Anybody have any clue what happened? It looked like ACB and the Galaxians got into a fight around the 30th minute of the first half. Not trying to incite something ... Just curious as to what happened.
Don't know, but was at the game and wondered why the two groups were separated into different sections when they first were grouped into one section. Stupids fans if they did get into a fight.
On a related (?) note, why did ACB move? They started out a section to the west of the goal, and then at some point they all decamped for their usual location behind the net. Was this simple force majeur (Who's going to stop us if we move as a group?) or was there a signal, request, whatever from security that it would be OK?
Used my "free" STH tickets to go to the match. So they were good for GA - *in the section over from the scuffle. Near as I could tell (mind you, this is just watching from the top of the same section)... the ACB and Galaxians were forced to sit in the same section due to the "limited seating layout" of the HDC. So this had one supporters group stacked on top of another. I think there was a conflict on which chant was to be led by whom, and it escalated from there. Couple that with each group being loaded up on booze and who knows what, and it's only natural tempers will flare. The staff at the HDC wisely opened up another section and let the ACB move to their usual location. Frankly, I'm surprised this wasn't considered from the beginning. To open up ONE more section is negligible at best. It did seem security was pretty light on the combatants and I only saw one or two people asked to leave. All in all, it was pretty minor pushing and shoving.
The opposite happened. ACB simply decided 121 and behind the goal is were they belonged, and hey they cant kick all of us out. There was a quick scramble of the 2 red jackets on the left side of ACB. Called for back up but there were still only about a dozen of them, all saying we had to go back. Everyone just ignored them and kept singing/watching the game.
I am not blind (yet)... I am pretty sure I definitely saw a scuffle. Maybe it wasn't ACB vs. Galaxians - but it sure appeared to be. Strangely there seemed to be a leader from each faction meeting at the top of the grandstands to discuss the ramifications once things settled down. Which I guess is why the nobody wants to talk about it. In any case, it's much ado about nothing. Tensions run high even amongst brethren. LAG walked out of there with a big win and life goes on. I've never understood why supporters' groups for the same team would have tension, but I guess to continue the analogy, it's like sibling rivalry.
Yah, will never understand that. Awesome to make it about yourselves (i.e., supporters group) rather than about the team you cheer for. Maybe there should be supporters group for the supporters group? They can fight out any tensions that exist between supporters group so the fans who come to watch the drama on the field can keep their focus on the field rather than being distracted by the drama between supporters groups.
Off topic, but I bought tickets to the LAG at Chivas (so it was a Chivas Home Game) -- and their supporters group rivalries made ours look like a church outing. I forget which, but one of the Chivas' supporters groups (nears as I could tell) coaxed the other group out to the parking lot to get into a giant rumble. Naturally, they missed their team actually decimating the LAG - which was ironic considering the derby rivalry. From what I heard after... there were knives and weapons and it was a scene out of Anchorman. When we left the HDC, there was a police helicopter overhead lighting up the parking lot nearest the Team LA store. Ah well. It's small potatoes to what happens in Europe:
