Just wondering if the USSF has ever bid to host the FIFA World Youth Championship. It would be cool if they brought this tourney to the States, especially since they wont be getting to Host the World Cup for another twenty years..

    :) :)

I don't think they've bid for it lately. I imagine they would when a few more MLS clubs have stadiums of their own, making scheduling a little easier and the tournament a little cheaper to put on.

They also might be a bit afraid of it being a lot more difficult to market the event here.
Where a World Cup is something even a casual fan of sport in the USA is very aware of, and it's huge importance, the youth version's importance and popularity to the rest of the world is pretty much a secret in the USA except to the hardcore soccer fans.
It would take a lot of work to make it a success here, IMO, at least in the near future.
If this year's event gets a lot of mainstream coverage in the states, and mostly because of Freddy Adu, I suspect, it would be a step in that direction.
The U-17's here are starting to get a "following" and attracting crowds.

You know, one could have said that about the '99 Women's World Cup, as well.

Get a couple more Freddy Adu-types (in the future), more SSS, and SUM's muscle, and it could possibly work.

Many did say that about the WWC before '99 and FIFA itself was afraid.
I was not worried about that event but I do feel this is different.
I would be all for it if I knew there would be a true commitment to marketing the event at the level that would be needed.

Well if USSF keep improving stadia.....

These is a totally USSF area, and with the right people it should not be any problem, but many improvement are in order: better schedule 100% more promotion and they could have a winner, Last years we have an event here in HOUSTON TX and guys, promotionally it was a disaster, could you imagine a U 17 game between Mexico/USA with 500 tickets sold! that was embarrasing, nobody knew about the event.....
