You've been the number one ranked side for a while now and deservedly so. It's shame you don't have something like an Asian Cup or a second round World Cup qualification to go along with it. Maybe next time.
The last time any Asian team achieved something really big in the world stage was 2017 which happened by Iran U-17 team. Iran national under-17 football team reached quarter-final of 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. FIFA ranking does not prove which team is the best in the continent/world but It tells which teams are top teams of the continent/world.

My statement was general statement. I never said we are the best football nation in Asia because we are not. However none of you can deny that Iran almost always have been among first tier Asian football nations. Iran is normally anywhere between 30-40 in the FIFA ranking (Not always). We almost always finish top 2 in the final round of World Cup Qualifiers group unlike some teams that they hardly make it to the final round or they never stay in the race for qualification until the last match-days. In the World Cup, we never had embarrassing performance and were always competitive. We rarely have trouble to finish top of Asian Cup group stage. So nobody can deny the fact. In my opinion, winning the AC does not necessarily mean you are the best nation in the continent. Why? Because in AC, even one mistake by stronger team in single knock out stage game can end your tournament which does not necessarily mean you are worse football nation than your opponent. Personally I use the following criteria to determine the best Asian football countries: The results of World Cup Qualifiers: 40% The number of earned points at the World Cup: 30% Asian Cup Results: 30% Hopefully the new coach will rejuvenate hope for us.
Iran is one of the top nations. I expected Iran to win this Asian Cup. Only thing I pointed out is that we shouldn't look at the youth results. If anything, the World Cup proved that Iran is a tough team to beat, even for the likes of Spain and Portugal.
Please stop it. In football weird results happen such as that 7-1 game between Brazil and Germany but Iraq is almost always a tough opponent in Asia. They are a side you should respect when playing them. IMO except Saudi Arabia, no team in Asia can claim Iraq is not a tough opponent. Asian teams must at their best for the best possible result against Iraq.
Thank you bro. Personally I expected we finish nothing worse than second place in last AC but the main problems were that our former coach was never ambitious enough and was happy even with semifinal berth before start of the tournament and he managed the team extremely poorly when It mattered the most. Personally I am glad he is gone because we needed new ideas and I never rated him as a head coach. Never blamed the referee but appointing an Australian referee had bad impact on us. In media and team, more than half of the focus was on the referee before the game unfortunately. Our players stopped before Japan's first goal because they thought the referee is going to give a foul to Japan wrongly due to negative view they had regard the referee. They also thought Japan's player will stop playing but he continued when all of our players stopped playing. It is painful to concede like that and lose at the end. After that goal, our players never could mentally recover. If our players did not stop before Japan's first goal, we would not have conceded that first goal and the match would have been totally different. Anyway the past is past and thinking about past will not help us anymore. The focus should be on the future for us.
