My wife was asking me why bid and host the world cup if there's part of the world you don't want around?

i answered that for the US, it wasn't about "welcoming the world" - it's about owning the tournament and making it their own + The US and their reflex to americanize everything they touch. Why a 25 minutes halftime? Porque? Pourquoi???

This goes against the spirit of what the tournament was meant to represent. Until they find the humility to get it, shouldn't bid for another one - let alone host it.

 

To honest, as a staff member, I'd expect you not to just be shit posting twitter copies. hundreds of them in fact. But whatever.

This makes logistic sense, they have alternates and they just slot him in. But damn, FIFA could have done right by this guy. I also assume FIFA expects every ref to have their visas in order, which this guy unfortunately didn't. Shame on US immigration for not being more lenient...

 

I think the refs are based in one location: in the US.

Whichever way you cut it this referee was refused entry to the US. We know Trump has been denigrating Somalians since the election campaign and it’s only got worse since then. The fact that the one ref refused entry is Somalian proves nothing but it’s certainly a situation where you go hmmm.
