Slight underestimate. Actual total is over 2300, although that's UK rather than just England. England "fans" will be the bulk of them though.

You're right.

1984 out of 2318 individuals had to surrender their passports to the UK govt, so they cannot travel to 2026 WC host countries. Their crimes range from violent actions to fraud.

As of Monday [July 1], 2,318 people have been banned from travelling to the host nations as part of the UK government's efforts to crack down on violent and illegal behaviour at the World Cup.

The new measures mean 1,984 people with a football banning order (FBO) in England and Wales and who hold a UK passport will have to surrender their document to the police by 2 June.​

These court-imposed bans have a maximum duration of 10 years and are given for alcohol and drug offenses, hate-motivated chanting or abuse, tailgating and unauthorized access, ticket scalping, violent and public disorder offenses, and football-related online hate crimes. A six-month jail sentence and an unlimited fine are the consequences of violating a FBO.​

 

It's funny how hooliganism is practically non-existent in England (and has been for a while), while 'other' countries still suffer terribly from it............it makes you wonder.

Negotiations on a labor contract between Unite Here Local 11, the union representing the cooks, dishwashers, concession workers and bartenders at SoFi and, Legends Global, the stadium’s food-service operator, are expected to continue Monday despite the vote. But Kurt Petersen, the union’s co-president, said if an agreement isn’t reached workers will walk off the job and the 70,000 fans arriving for the June 12 match between the U.S. and Paraguay will be greeted by hundreds of picketers.

Legends Global, the stadium’s food-service operator, responded to the vote with a statement.

“Legends Global has presented progressive wage proposals to Unite Here Local 11 throughout our negotiations and remains confident an agreement is within reach,” it read. “While we expect a contract will be finalized in time, a contingency staffing plan is in place to ensure seamless operations and no disruption to fans. We remain committed to delivering an outstanding hospitality experience at the FIFA World Cup matches.”

That contingency plan would involve hiring replacement workers who would have to undergo the same detailed accreditation procedures demanded by FIFA, plus job training.
