The amount of tickets up on FIFA’s Last Minute sale phase, at least from the time of this tweet, is ~29,700.The 5 games with the most tickets up for sale are:1. Cabo Verde v Saudi Arabia - 13,2152. Jordan v Algeria - 3,0993. USA v Paraguay - 2,8264. Algeria v Austria -…— AP Soccer (@AP_Soccer_) April 15, 2026
The United States is so toxic on the world stage right now that it can’t fill hotels or sell World Cup tickets.Let that land.FIFA projected $30.5 billion in economic impact from millions of international visitors. That demand never showed up. Hotels in Atlanta, Dallas,…— Gandalv (@Microinteracti1) April 15, 2026
Extraordinary defence here by New Jersey Governor of the $100+ train prices to MetLife stadium first reported by @TheAthleticFC yesterday - she’s pinning it on FIFA and not budging. This is the Governor of the host state of the World Cup final going to war with FIFA. https://t.co/ZHgGIIxo8n— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) April 15, 2026
What a joke! How many months until the 2030 WC held in cities and easily-accessible-WC stadiums people actually want to visit? 50? The countdown is on!
US hotels slash summer room rates as World Cup demand falls short https://t.co/XSgGjsDQUN— Financial Times (@FT) April 15, 2026
The moral of the story ought to be don’t award World Cups to a country with such shite public transit. Of course FIFA doesn’t care as it’s laughing all the way to the bank whilst busily dumping all the costs on others.
Let's remember that some of those hotel prices were 3x the normal rate because of the predicted World Cup demand, so they're still higher than normal. World Cup and non World Cup demand is less than anticipated.
NEW: Toronto's Fan Fest was billed as a "free and inclusive space" where all residents could take part in the World Cup. The city is now planning to charge attendees between $10 and $300, to offset new costs "above and beyond" the $380M tournament budget https://t.co/bFnEYixez6— Ben Spurr (@BenSpurr) April 15, 2026
FIFA have responded to this - and strongly. “We are quite surprised by the NJ Governor’s approach today on fan transportation. The original FIFA World Cup 2026 Host City Agreements signed in 2018 required free transportation for fans to all matches. Recognizing the financial… https://t.co/ZHgGIIxo8n— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) April 16, 2026
Depends on who you are asking. They are all repeating the same drivel. Hotels not getting people cause Orange Man Bad. TDS.
Yeah FIFA, also tell us about 2023 when you rewrote signed agreements to eliminate free fan transportation. 2026 WC host cities were announced in June 2022. So why FIFA wants to remind us of 2018 clauses which FIFA removed in 2023?
Canada, FIFA World Cup host country, rejected visa to President, Gen. Sec and Head of Legal at Palestine FA to attend FIFA Congress on 30 April. We're hearing also Lebanese, Iranian, Syrian FAs were denied visas. Congress is only event where FAs can feed into football governance— Kat (@KatVilarev) April 16, 2026
Infantino is being disingenuous at best here. The window for ticket buying and travel planning is at a very late stage now, and four countries still have travel bans and others have up to $15k bond payments. So when he says “even fans”, it’s too late for many now. https://t.co/Cscsak5fqR— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) April 16, 2026
KC Festival music info: https://fox4kc.com/sports/2026-worl...led-for-fifa-fan-festival-in-kansas-city/amp/
The KC fan festival looks to be the cream of the crop from what I could tell. Then again, I don't know KC well so not sure if location is convenient. But at least in terms of its set up, pricing and entertainment it puts the Queens one to shame.
In other news, It is being reported that The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States has declared all stadiums and event spaces for the 2026 World Cup as drone exclusion zones, with fines that can reach up to 100,000 dollars. I know most people have common sense but please don’t get any bright ideas about taking aerial pics of stadiums and fans. You may be arrested.
FIFA has built a sophisticated milking machine to suck every $$ from fans willing to attend the @FIFAWorldCup But here three tips I prepared for @opinion to beat FIFA's trickery: https://t.co/5serMajUwa pic.twitter.com/sZqRpXbKHB— JP Spinetto (@JPSpinetto) April 16, 2026
Majority of FIFA World Cup 2026 Host Cities See Double-Digit Increases in Flight Bookings Two Months Ahead of Tournament https://www.hospitalitynet.org/news...light-bookings-two-months-ahead-of-tournament
$100 for a train? Hold my beer... Exclusive @TheAthleticFC New Jersey’s NJ Transit this week discussed pricing close to or around $150 for round trip from New York Penn Station to MetLife for World Cup games. Earlier this week, we reported it would be $100+. This is *even* higher. https://t.co/3rQGZs2Td4— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) April 16, 2026
I doubt it. The stadium is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by swamp and highways with no sidewalks. There's a reason FIFA is preventing buses from getting fans to these matches - to force them to take the train. Taking a subway to NJ and then an Uber/taxi from there might be an option but could be very difficult to find a taxi/uber for the return trip. But Uber ain't cheap. And I'd be willing to bet that the one-way price for the train isn't just half of $150, so you won't save much if anything by taxiing one way.
