Dumb policies like most political regimes do. (The border was not all rainbows and lollipops when she was allegedly in charge for instance. ). Other issues too but apparently that is triggering some people here and should be talked about in a political section.
The question was how would Harris being president detrimentally affect the World Cup? What happens at the border (other than Trump’s border agents harassing foreign fans trying to enter) doesn’t affect the World Cup in any meaningful sense. If that’s all you got it’s not much.
If you want a discussion that is “on topic”, why don’t you start one?Although I’m not sure there are any pressing issues right now with the WC still 3 months away, except the violence in Mexico, although you didn’t seem to like that one either.
National Security and Border issues could very much be something that makes a World Cup worse. Also applying high taxes and dumb leftist policies that affect Sports teams similar to what happens in California where she was from could also make it harder for a World Cup. But once again, take it to another thread cause people are getting offended.
Nobody is offended. Just highlighting that your conspiracy theories are veering further off topic with each post. And reminding everyone that there is a rant thread if you need to let off steam.
So let me get this 100% straight, sooooo many conspiracies about orange man is apparently good in this thread. Conspiracies about Indian I mean Jamaican I mean African American Senator and Vice-President is veering off topic and so bad. Got it. Let’s talk futbol.
Unless you live in Jersey City you have to get to Liberty State Park light rail station then walk quite a way into the park (or grab the shuttle) to get to the event. And there's no guarantee they were planning to increase service. It's just inconvenient. I can imagine going once but not every day of the tournament.
You seemed to suggest that professional English footballers beating amateurs was somehow relevant the the World Cup in 2026.
I don't know, if this is posted already... But Jordan will have their base camp in Oregon. Link [Arabic]
I was simply responding to a sarcastic post about the English football team, coincidentally (considering your post) I responded with a few facts that help to highlight the irrelevance of the post I was responding to. You could go back and read if you want to but it might not be worth the effort.
European countries fear playing in World Cup will mean financial loss | World Cup 2026 | The Guardian No tax in Canada and Mexico. So teams playing there are better off. I remember tax already being an issue at the Club World Cup last year.
It looks like Iran will pull out of the World Cup. Reported on UK radio that the Iranian federation has said they will not be going to the USA. Obviously this is not confirmed but I can't see Iran traveling to the USA. It was suggested that Iran's spot could be taken by a team from the play offs but no details were given on how. Just speculation.
I'm thinking it would have to be Iraq that replaces them in that WC group. And UAE replaces Iraq in the playoffs - facing winner of Bolivia x Suriname.
UAE is just behind Iraq and ahead of Bolivia in the rankings. So, works well from that perspective. Gets messier if Iran's involvement is still uncertain 2-3 weeks from now though.
