A top 10 nation did not threaten to boycott. A single politician mentioned it. Show us the DFB statement discussing their potential boycott.

This boycott thing is THE biggest news on the World Cup, already in the UK people are saying its going to be the worst tournament in history (due to the maniac Trump) and there is a very real possibility that European countries will boycott it altogether - if thats not 'news' worthy of the thread I'm not sure what is!

Just as a back up perhaps it should be moved to the UK..........where fans from ALL the nations taking part will be welcome and treated with respect & without having to give up their historical mobile phone records!

Right, the UK…. famously known for its easy to obtain visas and open borders :)

What exactly would make it “the worst tournament in history”? The stadiums will be full with passionate fans of the teams playing (many already living in North America and supplemented by those traveling from abroad). The weather isn’t ideal in some cities, but that’s often the case for World Cups.

Yes exactly! And PARTICULARLY compared to the US where multiple nationalities are BANNED from even entering! Those that aren't banned are treated like **** at the boarder, they have their personal information rifled through and are made to feel about as welcome as a fart in a lift! World Cups are NOT about bloody 'locals' already living there!! Its about tens of thousands of fans travelling from other countries joining in on a festival of football! People in the US who had 'family' settle there at some time are NOT the people that should be watching England v Germany, the people watching a match up like that should be the season ticket holders at Anfield, Selhurst Park, The Alliance Arena or the WWK Arena etc.

This is what a World Cup should look like:-

This isn't the FA Cup or the Superbowl, its not 'domestic' its supposed to be a WORLD cup.

People who should be watching? lol.
Did you observe the 2002 World Cup? Many of the supporters groups in the stands during those matches looked Japanese and Korean.

Were you complaining back then? Probably not.

There are no set rules or standards as to how a crowed should look or feel.
It is whoever wants to go and has the money to go.
    That is all.

You seem to be confusing Europeans traveling to the European championship (and the atmosphere that will generate) with worldwide fans traveling to a World Cup on a different continent. Not quite the same thing, but it’s a common mistake we see. Only Latin American fans travel in massive numbers no matter where the World Cup is.

Creating a fictitious scenario where tens of thousands of Ivorian or Danish supporters would’ve traveled from their home countries to Houston or Atlanta (if only the match tickets and visas were free) doesn’t serve the conversation well. The attendees of all World Cups are always limited by travel considerations and thus weighted towards those living closer or in more accessible regions.

It IS the same thing! English supporters have always travelled in their tens of thousands in fact your 'Latin American fans' claim is rubbish! If anything the highest number of travelling fans has traditionally come from the richer European reagions (for obvious reasons) whether World Cup OR Euro Championship!! Besides half the 'Latin American' fans aren't even going to be let in!!! The World Cup shouldn't be given to corrupt or Imperialistic countries!

They should move all games to either Canada or Mexico - where fans would actually be made welcome.

Only since 2014 have Latin fans travelled in great numbers bar Mexico, who always know they are going to qualify, and Argentina. In 2002 apart from these two countries the biggest travellers were England and Ireland and I don't think anyone had more than England in 2010. Pity we were so awful.

Yeah despite some rather barren years you can't 'knock' the fans when it comes to sheer numbers.........I believe when it comes to international football (and domestic too I believe) England also has the largest 'home' crowds in the world. It's about time they had something more than just finals and semi-finals to cheer about!

At the World economic forum Infantino was quoted today as saying that every match will sellout.

To me that is not a surprise since I predicted it many years ago but to those of you who doubted or have been confused about high ticket prices.. …today’s news should clear things up for you.

Thats the case for world cup games BUT the question is who will the tickets sell out to? Will France v Portugal be full of French and Portugese fans that spend their weekends on the terraces at Stade Velodrome and the Estadio do Dragao or will it be full of wealthy Americans who think their great great grandad came to the US from the Algarve in 1820 eating hot dogs and waiting for T-shirt canons?

That is your question which has already been established as a stupid question.
There were many people here who said that every game would not sellout and they are wrong.

    In a farmers' league.

Also, your statistic doesn't disprove my remark. It wasn't a summer of many good signings in the attacking positions. Looking at that top 5 list you posted underscores that.

Really? Have you not been reading the news recently? You don't think the fans are an integral part of a World Cup? Go back and look at the video clips I posted and tell me if what you see will be the reality of this World Cup because if it isn't then it will NOT be what a World Cup should be.

You said he is past his prime. He is playing very well and in some ways better than at Liverpool. And he is going to play in his first World Cup so you know he will be inspired. Just wait.:ROFLMAO:
