An update on this: apparently CAF privately notified everyone that they would indeed be dropping last place results for the purposes of determining best runners-up. This was all the way back in March, but for some reason they never publicly announced anything and we only know about it because of this tweet: ℹ️ Here’s the letter from CAF to all associations back in March this year that specifically states the teams who finish in second place in their #FIFAWorldCup Qualifying group in Africa will have their results against the bottom team in the group annulled. pic.twitter.com/6Z5Q1VDCuj— The International Window (@windowintlpod) October 9, 2025
I mean, the playoff now is almost set. Uganda needs a big, at least 3-0 win IN Algeria to even have a shot. Not happening. DR Congo is in a win and in the playoff with a home match against Sudan. Anything less and they are out. Nigeria are the only group C team who can still make the playoff. They need a big win, at least 3-0 to be a lock, as that would have them pass up both Burkina Faso and Niger. Any less of a win will only pass Niger.
Niger are hanging by a thread. They need all three of the following to occur tomorrow: DR Congo to not beat Sudan at home Uganda to not beat Algeria away Nigeria to finish anywhere but 2nd
Belgium turned it around to lead 2-1 at HT Woltemade scores his frist goal for Germany who lead 1-0 in Belfast. Meanwhile elsewhere at HT: Sweden 0-1 Kosovo Iceland 1-0 France Why do people think the European Qualifiers need reforming?!
The only reform most of us have suggested is making the playoffs neutral site. Not sure why anyone should be punished for finishing behind Spain or England, for example.
Don;t like neutral venues at all; need to put fans first! Meanwhile France have equalised in Iceland!
Belgium and Germany in prime position to reach the WC directly, the former also with a game to spare.
Eddie Nketiah wants to switch his allegiance to Ghana. He chose to play for England over Ghana in 2023. He hasn't been called up by them since then.Ghana have already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. pic.twitter.com/gW5bgWlFq8— Africa Facts Zone (@AfricaFactsZone) October 13, 2025 Callum Hudson Odoi is reportedly willing to switch his allegiance from England to Ghana ahead of the World Cup.The last time he played for England's Senior Team was in 2019. pic.twitter.com/bamGOOnQVH— Africa Facts Zone (@AfricaFactsZone) October 13, 2025 Would be a nice boost to the Black Stars. I hope they manage to get them.
yeah. they would be good bench options, but not really needed. Semenyo is hot this season for The Cherries, while Kudus is a starboy at Tottenham. It would take a Bukayo Saka type player to make a difference on this roster and I don't think anyone of that stature is floating around for Ghana.
Hudson-Odoi could be really awesome for them though, even if he just comes from the bench. At the very least could be an upgrade over Paintsil.
I don't think Painstil starts like that. Sulemana and Nuamah come to mind. They are really deep in the attacking third. idk the state of the team... I know there's a Ghanaian user on here that could probably tell you better than I could. Saka and Nico Williams would've been homerun call-ups. but it is what it is
A win in Kazakhstan should do it, if they somehow ******** that up, they can try again against Liechtenstein at home three days later.
I've never thought teams should be seeded for playoffs. If you've failed to qualify through initial channels you deserve to be in a random draw.
Yea. Hopefully we have a miracle or two ready for tonight cuz Haiti looks like the team to beat in this group. Honduras is undefeated and have allowed 0 goals at home so far this campaign... the first leg in Curacao ended 0-0... Tall task for a Honduran defense that is plagued with injuries in the centerback area.
Yeah Ghana is stacked in the wide forward position. They need quality centrebacks more than anything. When Nketiah and Odoi were talked about a few years ago, they were both bigger names than Semenyo. But Semenyo is the far better player now. They would both be good bench options at the least, neither would be guaranteed to start.
Honduras really taking it to Haiti. 3-0. Kinda surprising. Maybe they should play in Tegucigalpa more often.
Honduras struggle with teams that park the bus like CR who played with 5 in the back and gave up possession happily. Haiti actually tries to come out and play and have paid for it on multiple occasions in transition. Honduras continues to make home a fortress, but there's 45 minutes left and it's CONCACAF so anything can happen.
