Tell me you don’t actually understand how xG works without telling me

Spain were conceding a miserly 0.31 xG per entire match . So a 41 year old Cristiano generating 0.28 xG entirely by himself against that Spanish wall means he individually created about as much danger as most full 11 man squads could manage against them. Argentina's team xG was sitting at a hilarious 0.00 for basically the entire match.

Mocking Ronaldo for actually threatening the Spanish goal while your idol was doing light cardio and getting completely pocketed is just tragic.

 

Spain is incredible & deserve a lot of respect.

I’m doing this off of memory but if you think about the last 20 years they have won 3 Euros & 2 world cups, all while La Liga has completely dominated Europe from the CL to the Europa league.

It’s truly impressive and in many ways doesn’t get talked about enough.

 

The match in which he actually scored, the 2022 World Cup final, included (i) a soft penalty on Di Maria that no other team gets and (ii) a scrappy tap-in from the goal line, which would have been cancelled for offside by VAR if it were any other team. Varane's backside wasn't enough to keep Lautaro Martinez onside, while in contrast Ferran Torres' goal in yesterday's final was called off for being offside by a similarly ultra-fine margin. It is another blatant example of double standards favouring Argentina and how they won the 2022 World Cup.

 

Cubarsi is what people here wish Asensio could be. I didn't realize how quick Cubarsi was and i feel that's helped him clean up some of his mistakes - same as Asensio - Its just that his overall game is much more polished. That said he's good for one big blunder every now and then. Needs to clean that up, which I'm sure he will with experience.

Lamine reminds me of Neymar. The ceiling is as high as it gets but boy is the floor low. He's too worried about being Non-challant. Needs a bit of Coach Unc to trully realize his hype.

I was surprised they didn't bring him on later in the game after tiring out Spain and taking advantage of his passing, finishing, creation and danger 1 v1. I didn't understand why him or Ronaldo were trying to play practically every minute, I mean I get it from their perspective but there are better tactical ways to use these guys at this stage of their career.

Kroos did it right, he left while people still wanted more. I mean I get it, the limelight is addictive but if you aren't careful it can brutal too.

 

I am talking about taking off his boots, I don't really pay attention to what they say on social media or podcast. Opinions are like noses, everyone has one and all that.
