Kane is 33 so this is probably his last WC. I guess he's playing the euro if healthy.

Hahah. He picked the squad leaving big players at home. He reaps what he sowed.

He got it wrong from the first moment before a ball was kicked.

Your fate is to remain under the illusion that this is another "if only this would have happened" I guess.

Whoever was at fault, the end result is what remains.

One of them constantly lectures everyone about an "open space for everyone." Strangely, that principle only seems to apply until the criticism is directed at him. Then the posts get deleted and the discussion turns into private warnings instead of public arguments.

I will rooot for Argentina once more. Even the total with Europe now

and yeah, Messi is the goat even if he was a choke hazard for his teams at some point between 2016-2020

They have several, but unfortunately for them, Palmer and Foden have been out of form for pretty much the whole season.

He went 541 after the goal.

Djed Spence was having a great game against his direct opponents before the changes. After the changes he could not get close to the wide players.

Tuchel did what worked in the previous matches - he shut up shop and hoped it would be enough.

He could see shot after shot from Fernandez but didn’t make a tactical change that would stop it, and then he saw cross after cross and again didn’t make a change.

The loss itself isn’t down to him, because they might have lost anyway, but the way they lost definitely is. They should have gone down fighting instead of ceding the pitch and hoping they could keep them out.

He is a good coach and getting to a semifinal is acceptable for England, but he made the wrong calls here.

Perfectly said. Think in hindsight he needed to let them play it out and figure they're not good enough than try to claw and grab into a lead.

Tuchel made defensive changes, however, in his press conference you can tell that he did it as a reaction to England playing badly and ceding possession, not as a cause of that. All those calling for his head are again showing the same hubris - "we are more talented", "we'll stop Messi" etc. that gets England in these kinds of places in the first hand.

England with so called golden generation in 2000s never made it to semis or final of World Cup/Euros. Since 2018, they are consistently going deep in those tournaments so that's a progress and maybe all they need is some luck to win the Euros.

He would have not made the same changes if they were playing badly and were 1-0 down, so that is not a good excuse.

If he felt they were playing badly he could have gone 442 with two blocks of four and Rashford and Kane up top, and looked to aggressively counter. Instead it was a 541 and attack vs defence.

If he played a good game as coach he needs to explain why the shots from Hernandez weren’t countered effectively, and why the crossers weren’t being closed down in the last minutes when the fullbacks were doing great before the goal.

He made a call, it was ultimately a bad call.

Definitely, but I think that the players also have to take a good look in the mirror, and the situations such as Bellingham responding defiantly to Tuchel have to be rooted out. And the pundits and the fans have to stop thinking that just because they have a guy whose name they can pronounce correctly and know him, doesn't mean that automatically they are better than world champions.

The one point I disagree with is the constant "if not for Tuchel they would have won it" stuff.

    Just a load of nonsense.

Argentina are playing like a boxer.

first 45, slow the game down. They know they can kick, foul and shithouse with impunity and they do to conserve energy.

Second half is when they start to play. The opposition is already mentally frail knowing they can’t match the intensity or they will get carded defending so they are more timid, by just a fraction. That’s enough to exploit when they go on their flurry.

If they are allowed to do the same style for the final, Argentina wins. FIFA makes a boatload of cash on the Argentina Messi hype. Adidas ( Messi sponsor) wins, MLS (Inter Miami) which is fully sponsored by Adidas wins. Infantino and his cronies skim will be large. Life will be good.

They all get defeated by better teams. I find it pretty funny that people think that Martinez should have beaten the tiki taka era Spain with Belgium if I'm honest.

Is Jogi Löw a great coach?

12 fouls in the first half. One card. How many non calls were there too?

It’s statistically proven that Argentina is allowed to foul and play the way they do with less severe punishment than other teams.

Argentina bring a Falkland banner onto the pitch and dance with it. FIFA rules explicitly says expulsion from the tournament for bringing anything like politics onto the field.

Nothing will be done, it’s Argentina. They can do what they want.

Surely. The guy is ancient and is basically fighting gorillas in a phone booth right now. Somebody will have to reinvent the sport between the final and the ceremony to grab that one off him.
