the Spanish FA wants a taste of some the kickback money too so makes sense FIFA doesn’t want to share the spoils.
Is there match fixing in this World Cup Finals? I am one of those who normally don'tr believe that it would happen at this level. Not in the latter stage of the WC Finals. But I already posted more than once that something very fishy is happening. And when I came to this forum, more than 70% of the posts are related to it. It is the WC semifinals with the four top team playing in it. It should be everyone's dream. England is playing against its biggest rival. But yet people only want to talk about corruptions and match fixing. I have never seen this before. I don't need to say more. The conclusion is already drawn.
2 of the 4 remaining games will have Spain playing in them, makes sense to only have referees in the pool that can be allowed to officiate all of them. I know Archivo VAR and others claim it's because "Spanish Refereeing is bad" but the guy in charge of France vs Spain has delivered one of the worst performances in this World cup so far on the whistle and he still gets a prime time slot. I kind of hoped we'd see more Italian referee representation.
I agree with what you’re saying, but multiple things can be true at once. Spanish refereeing is absolutely god awful, it’s the worst of any of the big European leagues. Every week is like some soap opera & the best thing we can possibly say about them is they’re extremely incompetent. They deserve to not be involved in the World Cup. I’m sure Spain won’t care if they end up winning it, when you’re the champ that’s all that matters…
I would put money on you not knowing which referees made the cut though. I refuse to believe the MLS team that handles the England Argentina game is more qualified and/or has seen these players on the field as much as Hernandez Hernandez has for example

🚨 Exclusive: Growing support within UEFA to back a candidate to run against Gianni Infantino at the next presidential election.Unlikely to be Aleksander Čeferin or Nasser Al-Khelaifi despite support for latter. Dariusz Mioduski floated by executives.https://t.co/XHfqwRWFwf— Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) July 14, 2026
FIFA has been trying to wrestle club football away from the UEFA for ages, the club world cup was sort of an official declaration of intent. Remember that Infantino backed the Superleague and signed off the first draft of the League as "the FIFA Superleague" then changed his minute at the final minute. Club football is insanely profitable so UEFA are trying to protect their asset here.
Sounds like Kone will start vs Spain. 🗣️ Didier Deschamps: “In the last match, the risk was high but Aurelien Tchouaméni is better today. We cannot say that he is 100%, but this is a World Cup semi-final and the last game he played was 15 days ago, which is not a deal breaker. He is AVAILABLE today.” pic.twitter.com/9i2zIkBvpy— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) July 14, 2026

Yeah after Negreira scandal, and the continued suspicious refereeing in La Liga, it makes total sense why they wouldn't want this cesspool on top of all the shenanigans going on.
Yeah because the refs FIFA did select have been such shining examples of neutrality this tournament… Liga refs arent needed. The circus already has a full cast.
