I remembered this post that I didn't bother answering during the game:

He was 14 and he played exactly the way he was looking to play when we signed him as a kid - technical wise brilliant with great touch and pass. Dude was trying all game to break England's defence but since the start of the second half they were playing very compact and there were no gaps for him to provide killer pass. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much energy he put and was looking for the ball all the time.
I would say that we profited well from him and he reached a very good level. Not a flop certainly.

 

Teams I want to win in order of preference

1. England. They are the least unlikable team. Pundits would 24/7 talk about how PL and English football is the best. But let's be honest, don't they do that already? Jude is my favorite player and he's been outstanding.

2. France. They are the best team and I'd be happy for Tchou and Mbappe.

3. Spain. All their matches bored me to death and if they win it, expect Yamal to automatically win BdO (despite having an average performance at the cup) and so on.

4. Argentina. Beating Cabo Verde, Egypt and Switzerland is not that epic, much less when they were allowed to foul and dive much more than their opponents. If they and France reach the final again, I hope to see an epic vengeance by the French.

 

England have some proper shit pundits and commentators but Joe Cole but be the worst of the lot (with Shearer), like totally brainless and uninteresting.

 

Yea, you’re the only person in the world that actually watches the World Cup, everyone else just watches clips on the internet.

I don’t have any social media of any kind & I’ve watched everything closely. If you can’t even admit that Argentina appears to be benefiting from the calls, that says more about some mental block that you have.

You keep going on about Embolo and don’t address other incidents like the Egypt game, etc… These VAR reviews are extremely strange. Further more there is substantial statistics showing how Argentina are allowed to foul more, receive less cards, receive more penalties, etc…

Your stance on this is strange. But we are allowed to disagree, so should just leave it at that.

 

I'm also wondering if some people, given their obsession with social media, only watched the short clip of Embolo's dive, and not the part where he's rolling on the ground like he has a serious injury. That shows his intention was to draw a yellow card, not simply to win a free kick or throw in.

I don't feel bad at all for Embolo, just hoped he apologized to his teammates and learned a lesson. I do feel bad for his teammates. The Swiss manager must be kicking himself too for not subbing Embolo for Vargas given how useless Embolo was.

Argentina are crap. Would be a massive disappointment if England failed to beat them comfortably.

Hernandez Hernandez, who refereed 1 group stage game, was the only Spanish referee used in this World Cup. FIFA is sending a message to the CTA (Comittee of Spanish Referees) that their reputation at the international level is currently in the gutter.

 

All FIFA has done is spare the reputation of Spanish referees, instead of being in the hot seat they will be viewed as incorruptible or at least not corrupt enough for the World Cup.
