What a farce! They couldn't handle Embolo, and therefore he needed to be sent off. The one chance VAR got to review a yellow card!
That’s the point. Embolo had been getting the shit kicked out of him all game. Yes he went down early as he knew Paredes was coming in hot to rock him.
2 v 1 with fcvking Erling Haaland by your side and you chose to feed your egoshame on you Sorlothhttps://t.co/ckmCiZ255L https://t.co/FMAY3GON9u— Jan 🇩🇪 (@FutbolJan10) July 11, 2026 Well done Bellingham and referee.— Alfie Haaland (@alfiehaaland) July 11, 2026
Typical of English media. Gabriel Clarke’s two interviews with Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham were dreadful. Tuchel was very clear in his praise for England’s strength of character but he wasn’t happy with the performance. Clarke failed to understand Tuchel’s mentality comments. He then gave a…— James Melville 🚜 (@JamesMelville) July 12, 2026
Tuchel is an idiot, he's the lucky one. Anyway strange way of claiming the game was RIGGED!!! Seriously tho, what a joke. Should be easy enough to review goals - the game literally stops and both teams go to their own half, it's not like play continued for 3 minutes. Not even a judgement call like a fould, card, etc., ball and game literally interfered with. Anyway I can't see England winning it as much as FIFA needs them for their ability to generate revenue. They are gonna be dragging their feet by the final if they make it that far. 10 men for a half against Mexico, then OT against Norway,. They aren't that deep and by now I'm not sure they can keep expecting Jude superman moments, the moments will dry up as teams adapt but more the case will become as fatigue sets in. Reminders of Baggio in 94' who could barely walk by the final.
Spain is the only team that can win the World Cup without an asterisk being placed next to it due to not having the FIFA handicap card, no controversial wins and goals.
Consistently no. Yet when they are struggling for some reason their opponents who are doing better give up penalties and red cards. Consistently
Irony is that if the ref doesn't give that yellow card, VAR doesn't review it and doesn't give a 2nd yellow to Embolo. But that's in essence a yellow card VAR review and that is BS. I cant understand that as "mistaken identity".
that’s the problem. Why did that go to VAR in the first place? Likely VAR saw that it was a dive and they said great we’ve got a reason to send that guy off. I’ve never seen a VAR review for a similar reason before. Absolutely a disgrace.
"Video Assistant Referees (VAR) do not review standard yellow cards. The protocol dictates VAR can only intervene for yellow cards in cases of mistaken identity (booking the wrong player), if an incident is deemed a clear red card, or to overturn penalties and issue dives-related yellows." I looked it up through ai. The TV on screem did mention "mistaken identity". It was obviously not a "mistaken identity". i did not recall if the VAR assistant ref recommended a card, and the field ref followed through. If that was the case, the "mistake identity" can be the Swiss dude vs the Argentine.
I 100% agree This is exactly how I saw it unfold live. This dude really ********ed things up with his incompetence.
it was a dive, if he doesn't try to simulate contact he isn't in a situation that leads to second yellow, I blame him. For me it is the consistent blind eye for every foul by Argentina, that is the issue.
Nah he got exactly what he wanted. To take the shine off the accomplishment and to steal the headlines for his own personal benefit. Now instead of celebrating this victory everyone is talking about him feeding his ego
