My push back here is football is a game that is supposed to just flow, no breaks for water, no stops for commercials, even substitutions are supposed to happen in a dead ball situation. Between ever increasing schedule and the hyper commercialization the sport is losing its identity.
Lol 🇪🇸 | A colourful daySpain became the first team at this #FIFAWorldCup to feature every colour of the Sofascore Rating among players in their starting XI – and that even works without the back line 😅A rainbow that, unfortunately for them, tastes quite sour 🌈😬 pic.twitter.com/Qw1xx65YdB— Sofascore Football (@Sofascore) June 15, 2026

Bro is a prophet Really looking forward to the Spanish media blaming Real Madrid and Cucurella for this draw against Cape Verde."A big distraction!"— Lucas Navarrete (@LucasNavarreteM) June 15, 2026
I agree. I pretty much stopped watching American football as it’s a tedious process to wait for only a few moments of action. Football is gravitating to the Americanization of it unfortunately, not for the better IMO.
They usually are overrated, but even with Tuchel subtracting big names from the squad, they are about even with Spain in talent. England PR is large, but seeing as Pedri is often listed as being better than Bellingham, I’d argue Barca PR is even greater.
I don’t like the Americanization of the game, either. I’ve read analyses that, after Russia and Qatar were given World Cups, the US government or associated entities made a concerted effort to bring FIFA under its control, and what we’re seeing now accords with that.
Different midfielders but Pedri is better than Bellingham. The last time Bellingham was consistently good was Dec 2023. Let's be real, we'd be shitting on him non-stop if he was a Culer that cost €120m and did fvck all on the pitch..
My original comment was about the broadcast and commercial breaks. One way of the “growing” the game here in the US is getting more people to watch it, unfortunately the broadcast production and overall packaging is awful. Monetizing every possible moment makes sense when live sports are the only thing people are watching (thus command the ad revenue) and how much they pay for the rights. I’ve been a sports fan all of my life but I can’t watch NFL/College football anymore, only NBA finals and Football for me.

Poor Marmoush. Has had to deal with low quality balls all game after starting attacks himself Belgium will be eliminated by the first big team they play. They are horrendous
