I heard that but I can't see it. It would be suicidal to not play him. Especially if we make it to the knock out stages and he's rusty having not played In months

The team would have to be wining the first two matches 2/3-0 by 60 for that not to look ridiculous. Do that and drop points against Croatia or Ghana and he is asking for fans to hate him. Even through it would be Watkins and not Toney starting going by what he said yesterday,

I wouldn’t take what he says as gospel to be honest.

When you say reporting it, was it just a throw away line? because that seems like a ludicrous thing to suggest

Either Kane is injured or these "journalists" have cooked up a complete bollocks story, with intention of creating doubts and making fans nervous. Ok, maybe just maybe Kane not playing against Croatia is part of some strategy where his overall tournament performance is expected to be better if he is not playing in the group games.

But Tuchel should know better, when the tournament starts all bets are off. It is difficult to say what will be enough against Croatia, but you want to maximize your chances by playing your best players.

It's just not going to happen. Kane is the captain ffs. Tuchel Is no fool. The mirror journalists are clowns

The only time journalists have an interest in telling the truth is when it can hurt England and help opponents. Like leaking starting elevens, Englands tactics, set piece routines. So the opposition can plan and be prepared.

For the game tonight without Saka or Noni,
so will be interesting to see how he sets up on the right flank? Can imagine Nwaneri will play a role there tonight. Maybe Watkins also for one half, maybe Rashford or Gordon?

As much blame lies with people buying the papers or clicking the stories. They write that stuff because it makes them money. We should boycott those papers.

Do you actually enjoy football? Or just enjoy reading all the other crap that gets reported that isn’t about the actual game?

I don’t have an issue with the post, was just a question, enjoy the World Cup.

  18. If he sticks to his 2 teams getting 45 each - without Rice, and with only Henderson, Mainoo and Anderson, at least it should mean Scott definitely gets 45 as one of the 4 CMs used.

And it'd be the obvious thing to use Ngumoha and Nwaneri for 45 too with Saka and Madueke absent.

Yes exactly it is very difficult/unlikely but you see the slight gap with the top 4 teams and the rest.
So if you stay among the top 3 or 4 teams for a decade and a half you have a decent chance to win it. I know probability does not exactly stack up like this but again I use the Italy comparison where from 1990-2006 they did not lose any knockout games in 90 minutes.

This England side since 2018 are on a similar stretch. They are certainly knocking on the door.
Of course Italy could have lost the shoot out in 2006 and then have gone into this period where they could easily not win for another 40 years or longer.

So is it luck? I would say you have to put yourself in the position to be lucky if you lose the 94 final in a shoot out and the 2000 final in a golden goal and win the 2006 final in a shootout you put yourself in a position to win within a certain window. You need to be there again and again. Germany 82 86 90 is another example.

It might partly be down to England being in the last group so delaying their warm-up games.

2018 comes to mind. Do media from other countries pull this crap?

And OPTA (an English company iirc) is itself more generous than other models out there:

I don't envy the players today. It's like walking through treacle out here.

Stumbled across this on X. When people see this scoreline they just use the standard lines like we were hammered etc anyway so doesn’t make any difference about the Lampard ghost goal but it really, really does matter and anyone with an any football knowledge knows this. That Lampard goal makes it 2-2 and means England aren’t pushing like they had to do in that second half and leaving themselves open at the back. I’m not saying the outcome would have been a win but people were really dismissive about how important that Lampard goal would have been in the context of the rest of the game.

No, I think in other countries the media sees their'e role as more being supportive of their team and not sabotage. I mean if there are scandals that they think the people should know about, they will report it. But not if it is just rumours or something they have cooked up in their head.

I even think they respect secret training sessions without moaning about lack of transparanecy, I don't think they even try to sneak in or fly drones over the field.
