Hopefully he retires from international football. Is he going to try and stay on for 2028? Seems a stretch. Much better for him to go out now. He could do with the international breaks to rest and prolong his club career.

Even players like Grealish and James Maddison carry the skill level to function as far superior 10's than Rogers.

Roger's is a 2nd Striker, who scores a dozen goals a season. His best bet would be to develop into a profile like a Scott McTominay. Although he would need to drastically improve his game inside the box to become that.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more bemused by a player selected for a finals than Jordan Henderson at these finals. Used like some weird overaged mascot when he’s took a place away from a boatload of players that would have offered so much more.

He goes down as one of my least favourite England players because of this. Plenty of players with far more talent have known when it was the right time to step aside. Tuchel is obviously to blame for picking him but I think Henderson has zero self awareness and his delusions culminated with harming the team on the pitch.

Just listened to Fabian Hurzeler on talksport. Two main observations. First that in the Argentina and Norway matches the players became too focused on the importance of the match to focus on their play. Secondly, in response to the DNA question, that the players come from different styles of play with their clubs. Pickford does not play out from the back with Everton in the same way that Stones has with Man City. Anderson plays a more mixed style with Forest. Implies that it is hard for players to be comfortable playing possession-based football if their instinct with their club is to be more direct. This makes sense, especially under pressure.

How do you make players more focused on the moment in huge matches? I can only think more experience of playing big matches including Champions League finals as well as late stage tournament matches.

Getting all the players used to playing possession football is harder. You can't force clubs to play a certain way. You can pick only from clubs that play the way you want. You can also ensure that England age groups all play the same way. If you only pick players from the club that play how you want them players that want to play for England would have to move to those clubs.

This was brought up before the tournament. Too many of our more technical options are used in a very direct playing style e.g. Wharton at Palace. This is why Curtis Jones going to a big team abroad would be a big positive in theory.

I think I need to give football a rest for a while. Its becoming stale and boring. Might watch the nations league, might not. I've become so dissolutioned with England and football in general

Some people can't enjoy fun things. I'm not drawing many conclusions from the game, but it was a positive we can take from. We showed how devastating we are when given space going forward and were ruthless near goal for what it's worth. Eze also showed why Tuchel wanted him in midfield because he played some exquisite passes slicing through France's back four including assisting the 4th goal.

Not surprised, this board is much more knowledgeable and tactically aware than the vast majority of people.

Inter have only made offers way below Liverpool's asking price so far and the new Liverpool manager has said he wants to keep Jones. So probably not at this stage but I'd love it if he stayed at Liverpool and benched Mac Allister (as should have happened last season).

We need to start producing ball retaining midfielders the way Spain do if we're to be successful. Scott and Wharton are decent at it. Anderson is ok at it. Lewis-skelly can do it but we Don't have enough of them

For many Thatcher is one of history's greatest villains but for the Celtic peoples of the Falkland Islands she has almost been deified. For the Islanders she is the person who liberated them from a fascist colonial settler state that sought to illegitimately expand its borders further through an act of war. I mention that the Falkland Islanders are Celtic peoples (70% descend from the Scottish Highlands, Wales and Ireland) because many of those those that consider themselves Celtic on the British Isles routinely support the Argentine position on the Falklands selling out their own people just to dunk on the English.

One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist and all that.

I was trying to see if team of the tournament was ready. But seems it is not. But what I saw was the Bellingham has been robbed out of receiving the bronze ball. What a disgrace :)

But were they all eligible to vote?. Presumably only British citizens could vote?
