If he went after 2022 I think the FA would have ended up either with Pochettino or someone English.

All works out in the end if Tuchel does the job. Regardless 2018-2024 the team was not as prime to win as they are now. 2026/2028 seems like the key window if there is to be a single trophy for this group. 2030 the team will likely be very different maybe even better who knows but its a question mark.

The only way I'd be in favour of a 30 minutes half time is if it involves Infantino being put in stocks and the fans get to throw rotten fruit at him.

CONMEBOL actually pushed 25 mins to be formally part of the game and hosted a half time show at the Copa in 2024.

It'll be a bigger achievement than winning the World Cup in 1966 IMO.

"I highly doubt England will again have a combination of this run of opponents en rout to the final." We said the exact same thing in 2018, 2021, 2024. This is kind of the norm now and this has actually been a difficult route through the knockout stage. An in form Mexico at the Azteca then an in form Norway against Haaland and now the reigning world champions who have Messi. You could argue England's had a tougher route than Spain (Austria, Portugal, Belgium).

I'm largely happy with him, but he has been over reliant on the same 14/15 players. In this respect, he could have picked a better squad as many on here have previously said. Challobah has been a waste of a place, as has Mainoo as he clearly doesn't trust him (I personally rate Mainoo). He didn't need to take both Watkins and Toney; one or the other. He's also cocked up massively by not replacing Livremento with an actual right back. I hope he learns from this but I have my doubts.

2021 & 2024 were not the World Cup, that was the UEFA European Championships.
Moreover my original point was not necessarily to say England have had some kind of 'easy ride'. It was to highlight that the WC now has an extra Rd of games (in the knockouts) which makes winning future WC's even harder (for almost everyone).

I'm confident about tomorrow. If we master the emotion of the game we will do well.

If nothing else this might mitigate, at least somewhat, the advantage the team going into the final from the first semi final has.

So Spain are in the final.

Feels kind of written that we get a chance to avenge 2024.

Spain looked very good today but France were poor. Every other team has contained Spain quite well, they don't creat much but then they are brilliant in midfield and solid in defence. Not sure who would've been better to face in the final if we make it - France's attack against our defence could've been ropey, but I feel Spain can be got at.

Anyway, I'm weirdly confident for tomorrow, just have to hope no stupid VAR calls and we keep our heads. Sadly if we lose tomorrow or on Sunday if we make it I will feel awful, Spain and Argentina are two very dislikeable sides

If the final is Spain vs Argentina im definitely not watching that.

Besides having Spain in there confirms a boring final with that poisonous lethargy of tiki taka of theirs

Particularly for some reason Spain this tournament. At the Euros they were more exciting but here they just seem flatter but playing prehaps even better.

I'd prefer Spain in the final as France will rip our team to shreads quickly, Spain will do it more slowly

Meanwhile Jason Burt in the Telegraph is going on about we have never beaten a leading nation in a knockout and if we lose tomorrow Tuchel is Southgate mark 2.

While Tuchel's squad can be questioned, I'm pretty sure he'd have a gameplan for a game like last night and also wouldn't just allow the game to continue getting completely out umbered in midfield.

This is the same 'scoreboard journalism' we get from these scummy individuals. They look at the scoreboard and THEN decide if they were any good.

If we lose, it's 'There's no WAY we could compete with a team like 'X'', and if we win, it's 'They weren't a top side any more now anyway'.

It doesn't matter WHAT we do, these hyenas will never give us any credit for it.
