Yes exactly in those days you were allowed to foul before a card you was awarded, some players wouldnt be able to play if they was kicked out of the game. Maradona was great in Serie A though!
Until Messi & Mascherano are gone, no manager will be in charge. AFTER those two retire, and stop choosing the 23 man roster, then Sampaoli can begin to build a fighting unit of extraordinary magnitude.
Maradona was rushed to hospital after the match and appearently he's just having to much wine. No wonder he looked high as fcked throughout the game.
Messi drags defences around when he is out wide and affords more width and space to the other flank and we did make use of it in that first half. Shut down both flanks and confined space infront of the the centrebacks and won the ball quickly. We really controlled that first half. Such unity in the team and between supporters. Love them every single one. Higuain looks like he does have a huge weight on him mentally though.
Higuain is crying because he knows his World Cup is over. The togetherness that last night brought is great for the players and the coaching staff, but the downside is, after such an outpouring of emotion, it's hard to build yourself up again and refocus. This victory and the build-up to it will have taken a lot out of everybody and we have a very tough game against France in 3 days.
Masche w I think the opposite, I think this brought the team together. They’re in great spirits, which is great to see.
I also think grindout wins are much better than easy paths. Grindouts tend to challenge and bring out the team’s character. That challenge readies the team for better competition. Our struggles against the Swiss and Belguim in 2014 were key components for the journey to the final.
