So Blatter stepping down means to me someone said "listen dude, I can tell you they have concrete evidence on you" or someone finally convinced him they will get him sooner or later, better to get out now, while on top ("hey I was elected again, but look at magnanimous me, stepping down"). I wonder if Teixeira's indictment might have tipped people off that a lot more is coming, and coming to people they thought were still untouchable (might seem silly but people in bubbles like this can convince themselves they're ok even after arrests and indictments touch people close to them). I actually prefer that Marin was arrested in Switzerland. I'm not convinced much will come of an investigation in Brazil, in fact I'm sure Del Nero went back because now the worst case scenario for him is house arrest while a slow justice system struggles to do something - IF they even get to him in the first place. Marin on the other hand must first convince Switzerland/USA to not send him tot he USA.
I think Teixeira's indictment was a warning shot and then the recent allegations on Valcke is what forced Blatter to step down. I wonder who will be in these new elections. Don't damper my hopes on Del Nero. We need him out ASAP!
I'm not saying he won't resign. I hope he will. But while having him arrested in Brazil (if it happens) is good for Brazil's image and the PF and justice system, the concern that it won't lead to much jail time is why I don't mind that Marin was arrested in Switzerland.
If Del Nero resigns, the next question would be......who would be a suitable candidate to lead a change in CBF? I must say, I haven't had any good football news like this since Felipao pulled Daniel Alves from the starting lineup at the WC.
Or he knew before the election that his head was gonna roll in the end but being an old dog he still wanted to have a last word by being elected. Kind of a swan song! Look, these folks have informants giving them a head-sup. So he knew long ago that this days would come. Sounds like a classic story of an old dictator who stubbornly refuses to hand over power even when the majority of the mob is against him. Knowing his reigning days are numbered he still wants to prolong it for a while until it last It's more of an "ego" thing
Aqui a minha opinião sobre a renúncia de Blatter da presidência da FIFA: http://t.co/SyRCZMf1IL— Romário (@RomarioOnze) June 2, 2015 UEFA President Michel Platini has the best odds to become next FIFA President. pic.twitter.com/YkR7bupaMy— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) June 2, 2015
platini is dirty too. Idk why some people build him up like a rebel or martyr. He voted for Qatar because the French Prime minister told him, no questions asked by him either.
Because UEFA and FIFA have butted heads a few times people assume that they are the good guys. Funny.
Yep, sources say that will be discussed now. That, and other institutional changes, much more than who is elected, is really where the hope for change lies. Also in more news today (but not surprising at all): one source is claiming Blatter is being investigated by the FBI http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup...t-sepp-blatter-among-fbi-probe-targets-report

But we're still stuck with Bladder for 6 months!! Hopefully Russia and Qatar get stripped of their WC's, but I doubt it!!
Might be too late anyway for Russia but there's still time for Qatar. Did the women's world cup have an emergency venue change?
Copa America 2016 could be in jeopardy. I wonder if Blatter is stepping down because of sponsors pressure.
Yep!! WWC'03 had to be in the US because of the SARS epidemic in China!! But it was awarded the WWC'07

Im starting to wonder if this scandal will unearth if any draws or World Cup games being fixed. They are taking bribes it seem to bid from certain country for hosting priveldges. Why not go deeper a rig a game or two for the right price.
I'm sure its happened. I would think targeting the more undeveloped countries in meaningless games late in the group stage is more common than people would think.
