The Cover page at Fifa.com shows Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the article about the 2014 World Cup. Just another hint that Brazil will be the host, there is simply no if's or but's about it.

Brazilian media has already noted this little thing on the Fifa page.

Love to go but would prefer the lush and lavish life in the resort district. ;)

This isn't guaranteed at all. The CBF would have to do major, major renovations to Maracana and Morumbi alone. Parts of the stadiums are fallign apart as it is and Brazil wasn't ready to host a World Cup for 2006 - never mind 2014. I hope that by the time the bidding begins, major changes and upgrades will have been done. But little has changed in the CBF since the times I widely criticized them in 1999 to today - so what is there to make me believe that things will get that much better?

Let's take it day by day.

    Alex,
I hear ya, but renovations are no big deal, they can easily be done if given a year heads up. Especially in a WC situation where 6(?) years heads up is given.

Brazil has no problems building, currently Rio de Janeiro is building state of the art facilities (and a new 40,000 soccer stadium) for the 2007 Pan Am games, which shows there seriousness when it come to hosting events. Meanwhile the 2003 Pan Am games to be played in the Dominican Republic are in serious trouble because of delays in construction. But of course we can't compare Brazil to Domincan because the DR is practically a small city when compared to Brazil.
