I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me how television rights to FIFA events are acquired? It looks like we in the States won't be able to see either Confederations or Gold Cups (at least not on English speaking television). Its incredible to me given the success of the USMNT last year that no American company would try to acquire the rights and broadcast the U.S. games in those competitions here. Is the cost of buying them prohibitive or are there other obstacles and considerations in the way? There most certainly would be some interest in them here if we were given the chance to see them and I'm surprised no one would try to capitalize on this. I'm totally clueless when it comes to this aspect of soccer so any info anyone could give would be welcome. BTW if anyone has any info that they will be televised here please tell me where. Whether PPV or otherwise.
