News: FIFA Ballon d'Or 2010 Awards

    Last year, three people was chosen for the Mens FIFA Ballon d'Or 2010. Their names were Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta. Read here for more info. ^^
    Also these three ladies were chosen for the Womens FIFA Ballon d'Or 2010. Their names were Fatmire Bajramaj, Marta, and Birgit Prinz

      The players in question were Iker Casillas, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Maicon, Lucio, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Wesley Sneijder, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Villa, all of whom received a lengthy and deserved round of applause from the gallery.
    Ten amazing goals were picked to be awarded the FIFA Puskas Award, but there is only one winner. Check out the rest of the nominees here

      Archbishop Desmond Tutu

      One of South Africa’s struggle stalwarts who fought for the emancipation of South Africans during the era of apartheid, Archbishop Desmond Tutu was honoured with the prestigious FIFA Presidential Award.
    • FIFA Fair Play Award

      This year’s FIFA Fair Play award went to Haiti’s U-17 women’s national team, who carried on bravely despite the worst kind of suffering, loss and pain following the devastating earthquake of January 2010.

    Not too many surprises, but I expected either Burrows or Halenius to win the first edition of the FIFA Puskas Award (though I also liked Altintop's goal). Actually there should have probably been two separate awards - one for long-range efforts/volleys and one for Maradona-like dashes (as it's quite difficult to make proper comparisons between these two categories).
