Playing Burrowes there has helped because we can switch to a three at the back more easily. Makes us a bit more secure to counters. I can’t for the life of me understand why we are playing both of these CM’s. It is the main reason why we lose games and concede these silly goals. We can’t control a game at any point, struggle to build play from deep and give the ball up in key areas. It is the worst approach to take in tournament football. We basically have to play perfectly to achieve anything. Just seems like a basic failure of player profiling for specific team roles.
Turned really scrappy after the goal. Page and ridgeon need to get more control and trying to pick a pass
First half has been lacking in quality, parts of the game reminded me of watching my niece playing u8s with the ball just getting booted from defence to defence. Too many over hit passes as well. Nice goal from Heskey and Egypt not really being in the game are the positives.
Egypt are not a good side. Bring on a midfielder who can actually pass and we'll score a few. That disallowed goal highlights how ridiculous it is to keep playing Porter. They haven't had a sniff all game but nearly equalised with their first shot on goal.
Strong reffing there, it was borderline but the connect was minimal. Nice to see him sticking to the original decision.
This is what happens in almost every game regardless of quality of opponent. You can’t play a midfield partnership that offers so little on the ball. Just end up tiring and having spells when you concede the ball almost voluntarily. This coach has learned nothing from the Euros. It is amazing.
Once again the biggest danger to the side is Porter. We've seen some bad goalkeeping performances at these levels, particularly this year, but Porter just seems hopeless at absolutely every aspect. Literally anything on target seems an ordeal. And shot stopping isn't even his main weakness! Feel bad being so down on him, its not his fault but its almost inconceivable the other keepers in the squad could cause so much chaos.
Strange game really, Egypt aren’t really very good and have offered virtually no threat, we have a had a few but not really made the right decisions in key areas or not listened to the shouts of players being in better positions when it’s clear you haven’t got a realistic chance.( the striker, can’t spell his name taking the ball of Williams-Barnett at the far post ). Kind of an easy half really, had no sort of pressure but kind of get the feeling we will make very hard work of a game we should be winning with relative ease.
Excellent breakaway, really nice first touch from LWB to make the space and composed finish from Heskey.
He’s playing Page as the 10 now lol. Our limitations in creativity have now been knocked down to zero. The designated penalty taker should be taking that penalty. I’m not sure that is Heskey.
My ITV app randomly stopped working, it’s useless. I get a better picture watching England games on my dodgy Firestick!
The ref is awful. Blows every time an Egypt player Is touched. And the Egyptian players are shithouses. We won't get far playing like this
Every European team is likely to finish first or second in their group, so I think we can roughly gauge the overall quality needed to progress deep into this tournament. Whether the team can up their game to that level remains to be seen.
Currently we are 6th placed runners up, with 4 groups still to play although only one group is realistically going to change our standing. 8th placed runner up plays best placed runner up, and so on. As a result we will likely end up 6th or 7th best placed runners up, which will extremely likely give us South Korea or Croatia in the next round.
I know we won 3-0 but I wouldn’t say we played particularly well especially in that second half. Did well on counter attacks and scored two good goals but not really having much control in midfield against with all due respect a pretty average Egypt side. I personally thought we looked very leggy also and almost felt like we had weights tied to our legs. I guess we have to appreciate the heat out there of which we won’t be used to. Also the ref had a weird game, made some good decisions but then made some comical ones. The one when Williams-Barnett dribble past a few and his hand must have stroked the guys chest and he went down clutching his face was ridiculous and stopped a perfectly good chance on the counter.
I don’t hold out much hope in the knockouts. Too many flaws being ignored or not even recognised by the coaching staff. Never mind starting both I genuinely think Ridgeon and Page should be competing for the same squad place. We’ve got the CM squad selections wrong. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen Porter palm a shot out to the side of the goal rather than straight back into the middle of the goal.
The one that pissed me off was the Rodriguez challenging a 50/50 ball with the Egyptian. He had every right to go for it and he gets a booking
ITV’s is one of the worse through. If I am watching a drama that can be binged I slays do that for the BBC and most others but it has to be really good or I have a very busy period coming up to tempt to me try that app (Via a legit firestick) and jump ahead.
An unbelievable run from Harrison Miles! 🤯 pic.twitter.com/EGZ3JP9vUe— England (@England) November 10, 2025 That's some goal. I can't remember ever seeing that finish before.
