Shows you how little respect, or knowledge, they have of our region. On this page giving the info on the new qualifying spots to be given by confederations, it refers to our region as Central America.. Hmmm
Anyway, a few days ago I told them of the error but it remains as of this posting. I'll be curious to see if they ever fix it.

I would hardly label that as a typo.. It's been there on the official site for a long time. If they refered to Europe as Britain I hardly think it would stay.
It simply shows that who ever the author was doesn't know what comprises the region and is clearly not a typo, as you say. I'm not "upset" about it, as you infer but just noted the error that should not be on the official site and must have been seen by someone who knows better. Calling an entire region by another name is not a typo. It's ignorance of the facts.
It's also a bit amusing that the official site for the next world cup would have such a glaring error on it, not noticed and unchanged by them.

I'm sure they stamped that error out of their website with prejudice.
Strike one for opponents of factual errors everywhere!!
    Good job!

The whole Central America thing bothers me anyway. Technically, it isn't even the correct term, just a name that developed like the Middle East (which is really Asia). All of those countries are part of the North American continent, there is no Central American continent. If we had all just accepted that, we wouldn't have a governing body with the cumbersome name "The Confederation of North, Central American, and Carribean Association Football"... we would just have NAFA or NAFC...

One of my useless crusades...and, yes, I am a big dork...

In the USA we call Chicago part of the Mid-West.. Look at a map.. It's not even in the western half of the country but "tradition" rules I guess..
