Real Madrid V Arsenal. They must have been listening to the recent talk about who's better. Seems pretty good, but I need to play it a lot more. Definitely the best FIFA game, but can't really see it comparing to Winning Eleven. If you like Fifa games, you'll probably love it.
It seems to have graphic glitches on the players. It was delayed before because it failed quality controls, it seems they still haven't fixed it. I still don't like the shooting delay which has not been fixed. The game also still feels too scripted, like the game is really controlling where your shots and passes go, and there is not a real feeling of freedom like Pro Evolution. Still the best Fifa game.
I just Downloaded the big.ini patch file from soccered.com it changes the difficulty setting as well as the camera setting and change the time to 6 min per half. It's much better than the shipped demo. I'm still playing the game, getting my ass kicked by Madrid. Ronaldo keep scoring on me!! I think this is the leaked demo, not the final one. The keys are different from fifa 2002, I still need time to figure out every thing.
Thanks! I'd heard of demo expanders for Fifa games and really wanted one for this, I'm amazed ones come out so fast! They've updated even further from what you said. 1) 10 minute halves (2) Accessable options screen from pause menu (3) Multiple games (4) 1024x768x32 resolution change (5) Bookings activated (6) Injuries activated (7) Offsides activate I'm trying it now.
Any more updates on this game? premierleague: the PC version of FIFA always have glitches (just like other games). Besides, a DEMO is bound to have many glitches. Anyway, keep the comments coming!
Here's what I think so far from playing the demo. First of all the buttons from the fifa2003 demo are different from fifa 2002 or fifa2002WC. S is now short pass without a powerup meter much like the old fifa games, A is still lobs and crosses much like fifa2002, D is still shoot, however the new shootting style is different from Fifa2002wc. E is now sprint and quick turns, W is through pass and headers and Q is still running off the ball. I don't know if they keep the curve of the ball in the game or not since I haven't found the keys to curve the ball yet. The first impression from the demo is it's fast, especially the speed of the ball. Many compare the speed of the ball to the old Ping Pong days of Fifa. People always complain about the arcade style of Fifa, the demo did NOT change the style of the game. However, according to some interviews with EA, fifa 2003 has two modes, action and simulation. I truly hope the demo is in action mode and simulation mode is much much slower. Player animations are all new. They aren’t built on the fifa 2002 animations nor the new fifa 2002 wc ball juggling animations. But you can still see traces of motion-captured moves from the older fifa games. The graphics are nice and up to the superb Fifa standards. Does the game play feel different? Definitely. However I have yet to decide whether it’s better than fifa 2002 wc. Since this is only a demo (possibly a leaked one at that), many features aren’t incorporated, and those features might be crucial to the game play. The new short pass button is quick and responsive. Which makes one two pass and possession play in the midfield very easy. Crossing is computer assisted in the demo, making it easy to execute. The defenders are much smarter. They will help you by slowing the attacker or making a tackle even if they aren’t selected. Shooting is improved; making both first time shots and power shots easy to do and natural to look at. This is mainly because of the new ball control system. Players now do not have control of the ball at all times when they have possession. When you press any button, you will notice a delay in the reaction of the player. If the ball is close to the player or the talent of the player is exceptional then the delay will be shorter. It’s often unnoticeable if the player is standing still. However, when you press E, it adds a bust of speed to the player, making any turns or passes unresponsive. Often I run the ball pass the touchlines instead of turning after sprinting. This also makes taking on a defender one on one much harder. I haven’t figure out any special dribbling moves yet. But I suspect it also has to do with the E button. The W button on the other hand is useless. W is for headers when the ball is in the air, and it’s for through pass when you have possession. Maybe I haven’t got use to is yet, but both functions do not work well when I play. For more info on the demo and what others think, check out the soccergaming.com forum. I think Fifa 2003 has promises like every other fifa game before it. But much of it depends on the final product and it’s features.
thanks for the feedback topcow. I will be getting the PS2 version but I hope they can incorporate all those buttons somehow like they did for the PC. Like you say, hopefully the demo is the action mode and not the simulation mode.
Fifa 2003 demo After playing both 2min halfs i can certainly say this game aint nothing more than eye candy. The gameplay is fast, real fast. The players seem to be ice skating across the field and every shot at goal is a rocket. If you are a EA enthusiast then i guess there are some things that will make you cream your pants like player likeness, stadiums and crowd graphics. To the ISS faithfull this game is crap. Game play is no were near pro evolutions. I will not purchase this Insult to the beautifull game, instead i will get a Warez copy all patched up and hopefully it will be playable. Untill then i shall await for Konami to start making their footie games for the pc
The best thing I like is the Broadcast Camera angle, it makes the game look much more real . Pay it in action camera mode (if you get the 6 minute half patch) and the graphics are really shown up compared to PES which has a similar camera angle. PES2 will let you change the camera angle degree to make an isometric broadcast camera type view like this. I also like the passing animation when they push the ball forwards with the front of their boot, it looks very realistic, especially with Real Madrid.
who really cares about fifa, every1 get a copy of PES2 and you will be sorted for life!!! everyone by now should realise pro evolution is the best football game on earth and so no one will buy fifa, also PES2 is 5 quid cheaper...poor EA........oh well.......harsh........BUT FAIR!
October 25th is DDAY in Europe. I'm still interested in FIFA 2003 to see how it holds up against PES2. I will never buy a FIFA game of course.
Those of us in the U.S. don't have that option without buying the UK chip, and some of us can't afford that. Don't think we haven't heard a million times how much better PES is. I'd try it if I could but it's not an option. I, for one, am excited about Fifa 2003, as long as it improves on FIfa 2002 WC as much as that did over previous ones.
http://cousinfizz.4mg.com/ Read this article carefully. I've never done it before and you have to be careful, but it should work.
You can get it mod chipped for you instead. If I was American I would do it for this game alone, thank god I don't have to!
Ok, I played some more FIFA 2003 demo. It's getting better. I figured out shift key on the key board is the special moves key, and all you have to do is hold shift and press an direction key. Fifa 2003 is not bad. The game is getting better the more I play. The defense needs a lot of positioning and timing, much better than the older fifa. I also did some great through passes, and figured out how to do free kicks, however I am yet to score a goal from open play.
The game play is much like fifa 2000...to me The graphics has improved Players faces ore realistic and also their name on the jersey Real life Stadium certainly better Can't wait till it hits scores in Aus
