Wow, less than 2 weeks until its release, and everyone has been surprisingly quiet on these boards lately. Is everyone just resigned to thinking it won't be very good or what??
My lack of interest is more related to waiting for CM4 to come out than thinking FIFA it will stink. However with the timetable for CM4's release I may end up buying it anyway.
I can't really get excited about FIFA knowing that Konami's game is always better. Since the mid-late nineties I've been spoiled by ISS to MLS. Now if Pro Evolution or Winning Eleven or even a new MLS were to be released (which I know the deal is over so a new MLS won't be happening, from Konami anyway) then I would be anticipating it. PS - anyone think Sega might take over ESPN MLS series now that they have the ESPN license? Based upon NFL2K3, an MLS2K3 would be a great game.
Well, I'm very excited about FIFA2003. I know a lot of people hate the fifa series, but I own an XBOX and for my system is the best game available. The only Konami game that came out for the XBOX sucked big time, FIFA World Cup was great, and I'm expecting more from them this time. So I'm definately counting the days....
I can't wait for it either. For the umpteenth time, if it was easy to get a copy of PES or ISS or whatever it's called that's so damn great then I'd get that, but until that day comes I will always buy FIFA. Besides, if PES/Winning XI were so damn great they would have made it available in the states already...
FIFA 2003 was out for the PS2 over here last Friday. I rented it out and it is a better game than the last few versions. The controls have been altered slightly and some ideas have been taken from PES, such as holding down the tackle button to make your defenders intercept the player with the ball and holding down the sprint button instead of tapping it. The game itself is also harder. I've been playing the game on Semi-Pro (the second out of 4 difficulty levels) and I lost 4-0 to Monaco as Manchester United in my first match. The game isn't as good as Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (which I bought last Friday - awesome game) but it's definitely better than 2002, 2001 and 2000! I'm going to buy the PC version this week to play some friends in an online tournament.
I heard the official date was 5 Nov. I've already preordered directly from the EA store. There's a code on the FIFA 2003 site that offers free shipping. I got it for $49.99, no tax or S/H.
no it didn't. MLS extra time 2002 rocks. if you don't like that then you probably won't like Pro Evolution Soccer either so stick with the crap fifa series.
Exactly, the best XBOX soccer game IS the Konami game. MLS E************************ destroys FIFA and FIFA 2003 won't be as good either. FIFA 2003 will probably be better than FIFA 2002 but that isn't saying much.
Should I buy the PC version or the PS2 version of FIFA 2003?       And will the MLS players in the game be wearing the new 2003 MLS kits or the 2002 MLS kits? -G
Sounds like another step in the right direction at least. Did you play the most recent WC version? I think if they could have combined the WC version with the 2002 qualifying version it could have been great, but it sounds like they took it even a step further. Can't wait....!
I rented the WC version out back in June. You're right, it would have been better combined with the Qualifying version. I guess that's soemthing to be thought about for Euro 2004 or WC 2006. Hope you enjoy 2003.
I agree. My favorite of the FIFA games was Road to World Cup 98, where you could do exactly that. I have FIFA 2002 but never bothered with WC 2002. Now I'll just keep 02 on my PC and get 03 for my PS2.
i am very impressed with fifa 2003 on my PC. It has definitely grown leaps and bounds over the last few efforts. I have and love MLS E************************ 2002 for xbox (i have a few gripes about the game, but overall its a good game). Fifa 2003 has better gameplay, more realalistic, especially when you slow the game down and turn up the difficulty. The most goals i've scored in a game was 3 so far on Semi-Pro and 1 on Pro/World Class. I still have some gripes about set pieces and the AI of your central defenders.. i'd urge everyone to try it out (rent it from blockbuster if you have a ps2/xbox), i believe the 11/05 release date is for people here in the states. The PC version will be attractive because of the Creation Center, and it allows users to import specifics parts of user created patches (ie: import the new kit and player faces, but dont use his rosters). Just some advice, if you dont have a dual analog gamepad for your PC yet, i would definitely buy one for this game!
why is that people write "MLS E*********" for "MLS E************************"? is the word "e************************" censored???
IGN has a review online for the xbox, but it is currently available for subscribers only. Perhaps it will become public in the next day or so. http://xbox.ign.com/
Is that the kind of gamepad that has the two little wobbly joysticks? Either way, what would the advantages be using a dual analog as opposed to using other controllers like a sidewinder or freestyle pro(which is what I use)? I'd probably go and buy one if it would enhance my Fifa 2003!!!!
Awesome! Will the new CC allow me to create kits in a .jpg format and import them? I was originally only planning on getting FIFA 2003 for my PS2, but if I can create my own kits this easily on my PC, I may get both.
