www.3rddegree.net FieldTurf has it Covered, Lines and All Darren Gill, Marketing Coordinator for Field Turf Inc, reported that, "While it is not possible to remove the football grid lines and end zone color", they have, "In the past successfully 'covered' these lines with a painting process". peet burn radio
Thank God, the footballs lines are nothing compared to those immensely ugly purple endzones. At first I didn't like the move, but now it's starting to look better and better.
It's good to hear that heat shouldn't be too much of a problem on the Southlake turf. It'll be interesting to see how well FieldTurf's line covering works. I have a feeling the lines will pop back into view after the first hard rain. But if this year's anything like the last few, we shouldn't have to worry about any rain messing up the field's appearance this summer.
What a scoop! That's some nice journalism there Hitman! I'm very encouraged to hear about the efforts to cover the lines. Your piece answers just about every question anyone could have. I'm anxious to see how it all turns out.
Something else to help with the Sun and heat. When I called about my season tickets they said the games are going to be pushed back to 8:00 P. M.
In the summertime, they should push the times back to 8:30. There is no structure on the West side of the stadium to block the direct sunlight like the Cotton Bowl had. Fans in the bleachers and in the east endzone will not be able to see anything until the sun finally sets.
"So when Burn fans come to the Dragon Stadium in Southlake on April 12th, they will not be faced with the horror of having to see Jason Kreis, Chad Deering and Ryan Suarez running about a maze of marks and lines and a giant dragon. Instead it appears that they will be playing on a perfectly flat, green, grassy surface that meets the FIFA size requirements by loggin in at 70 yeard wide and 116 yards long" We'll see if it meets those dreamy specs.
Here are two pictures that Daniel posted on the Voyageurs board. Both are of Frank Clair stadium, and taken during the 2001 Francophone Games. The above article is wrong, because Ottawa did not have a CFL team at the time. However, I know that at least one Canadian juniour football team played on the field and perhaps one Canadian university football team. Thus, you can see that the lines were covered up, and they don't look that bad... http://community.webshots.com/photo/49361857/61011207bjMQXj http://community.webshots.com/photo/49361857/61011148ZItioz Also, Fieldturf is much much better then the Safeplay (or whatever they call it) stuff that the Chicago Fire have to play on.
Thank you for your input. I was told by the FieldTurf rep, or at least infered that from him, that they had removed CFL lines. No matter, your photographic evidence will do wonders in helping clam the fears of the Burn faithful that the lines will be glaringly evident. thanks! peet burn radio
Making the football lines "invisible" will be a piece of cake compared to covering up those ugly purple/black endzones.
