http://tinyurl.com/epuu hehe - says Becks was blessed with the best fitness of all the players and would always practice even after practice. After he met Posh, all that changed...
Are you surprised? In part this is a bit of "he's not as good as you all thought he was" bashing, but it's true. Beckham cared more about being seen than he did about football. He's as much if not more sizzle than steak. Utd have got several midfield players who can step in (including, in my mind, Richardson).
Ummmm.... Do you suppose Posh is kicking herself saying "Damn, if I only had had that breast reduction earlier, he's still be playing for Man U"?
I think that David's best season was '98-'99. Since then, he has steadily been more inconsistent. When he is great, he is one of the best in the world. But he can disappear from a game, and it has been happening with increasing fequency. Beckham seems to be at least as interested in fame as he does in football, which is not something you can say about any other player at United.
Seems kind of weird, I mean, it was reported that Yorke was run out for carousing at all hours of the night, as Fergie wanted him to settle down (get married), and now it's David's being married at the root of the bust up. I think we can assume that it has more to do with how your performance on the pitch and work ethic on the training ground have more to do with why you stay or leave Old Trafford with Sir Alex in charge.
Methinks Sir Alex wants a more traditional "football wife." Someone who's around for charity functions and photo ops but no one who can be seen as a threat to the player's performance. It's evident that Fergie's all about the club and feels that the players should have the same mindset. I find it interesting, the number of concessions Beckham's made with Real regarding his numerous sponsorship appearances and off-the-field activities. When it's all said and done, he may have had it better at Old Trafford than he will at the Bernabaeu. He's going to have to really fight for a place on a crowded midfield, his commitment to the National team will mean constant travel from Spain to England and the intrusiveness from the English and Spanish press will place him under greater scrutiny. It'll be interesting to return to this thread 12 months from now and see just how things have progressed for Beckham, Posh & Sir Alex.
SAF is probably last of the old school mangers. In Keanes book Cloughie punched him, SAF kicks boots! Dangerous place the dressing room. Cant really imagine Eriksson hitting a player.
