Ronaldo is a one trick pony that has already had his day.

Robben makes him look very ordianary.

What's the "rule of thumb" regarding other fans coming on our board and slagging us? Automatic negative rep? Boring trolls, so just ignore?

This is so wierd. I thought we were playing Arsenal next, but the Man U. fans ("we're never concerned with Chelsea, they've only won the league once, 50 years ago in 1955, not that we're paying attention...") seem to have forgotten we've already met once this season. That wa so early in the year, when Robben was out and we hadn't even started to gel, I have a hard time remembering how that game went....

BTW: why have Man U and Arsenal taken to an alternate blue strip in the last couple of years? You don't see us flouncing around in red and we've only made that mistake once or twice in 100 years.

    Oh, I know why.

    BLUE IS THE COLOUR
    FOOTBALL IS THE GAME....

We'll worry about Arsenal. If I was a Man U fan, I'd be concerned with whoever they are playing next and trying to get past Everton. Wayne Rooney must feel he's made a terrible mistake.

The advice from ClanBlue is that you are to ignore them as hard as it is. I tend to break and feed into the trolling. I usually neg rep only when really appropriate.

At the moment the midfield is Fred, pires/Reyes, PV, and Cesc, pv has look terrible on the defence, and there is only so much physical presence a 17 year old can have. Hence all attack. You'll notice i said without Gilberto, man you have the reading compreshension skills of a gnat.

Not to encourage trolling on any level, but I just wanted to add my $.02.

    1. I don't get why people are shocked, *shocked!*, when Fergie makes comments that are clearly intended to rile up the competition. He does it every year to whichever teams are competing with us, and the media loves playing it up as an example of his arrogance. Everyone knows the drill. It's his way of saying, "Can't wait for the second half of the season."

    2. Obviously the comments were aimed at the troll, but Giggs, Scholes, and Keane still put it together much more often than not. Robben and Ronaldo are both incredible talents. And we all know the difference between December and May.

I've been reading these boards for a long time and (just as an aside on this thread and others that have been popping up lately) I find it strange that fans from teams that aren't concerned about us, are suddenly posting in the Chelsea forum. Obviously, we're concerned about Arsenal and Manchester United. How could we not be (and even Everton).

    Any arguments?

Me think thou doth protest too much.

    1. Well no, though I do recall winning it all a few times in the past. But then I'm getting old and my memory is getting hazy. ;)

My only point being that we've come to expect it from Fergie... hell I've come to expect it from Mourinho at this point, and he's only been around for six months. Though I do admit I'm enjoying Jose's humor a bit--"Five-four? That's not a football score, its a hockey score." We were all thinking it, I credit him with actually saying it. Now I'm just waiting for him to respond to Fergie by saying, "You, sir, are a baboon! Baboon Baboon Baboon!!!"

    2. We'll have to agree to disagree on Keano. But then United fans have been saying that since 1993.

I look forward to this weekend. Though a draw would be best for us, my money would be on 3-2 to the Chelsea. Of course I'm never right about those sorts of things to begin with.

hmmm, have you ever heard anyone say they enjoy watching Titus Bramble?

    Here is my 2cents....

Sure, Fergie is playing games but he is stating the obvious, no team has ever gone an entire season without one or two shaky periods. Some of you will say, never - but that's your opinion and SAF who has more trophies than letters your owner has in his name, he is entitled to his opinion as well.

Look at some of the things Mourinho has said, his whole 4 trophy thing is rediculous... before they get to the semis in any cup and he throws that out there?

Chelsea is a good team, lots of quality and playing well, however its not impossible for United to make up the 9 point gap. In fact its quite possible that United could do just that. History suggests its likely (note, I'm not saying likely we will win, but likely we will close the gap significantly) and common sense suggests that it is possible.

We play you once more, if we win (something we would really need to do if we want to close the gap) then the gap is six points. You have to play Arsenal twice and there are suprise results in the premiership every year as well as bad results, where teams just cant find the net with lots of chances or a case where a ref, a suspension or an injury impacts a game. 9 points is not a mountain and for Fergie to suggest that Chelsea will suffer a blip in form is not ludicrous. One year of success that is not yet halfway done and you have become invincible? Don't start making room in your trophy case (not that you would need to though) yet, Bayern's colors were on the CL trophy in 99 and we overcame that obstacle, Arsenal had 50 not out on their shirts at OT this year and we saw what it got them.

There is nothing wrong with confidence in your team and there is nothing wrong with speculating about other teams. Its done all the time. The fact that there is such a response to a harmless Fergie comment shows that there is a nervousness in your camp (which of course is not a reflection of how the team feels, though its possible they feel the same way, but we don't know that).

Well now, thats an interesting and good read - right up to the point about closing the gap.

You see, the chances of it decreasing are probably about the same as for increasing.
The chances of it staying as it is are probably the worst of all.

Of course, when it increases, your chances of overhauling it actually drop quite significantly, as there are less games to play...in which case the chances of it decreasing actually become worse than those of it increasing, whilst the chances of it staying the same go up a tad.

    :D

    (good post though)

This thread is deja vu all over again...

I think we had it going next door about a month ago (Plus a couple of times last year).

Fergie is well on his way to becoming the Chicken Little of the EPL.

i actually agree with you, about all teams and bad streches, just trying to point out the only example i can think of. i just think SAF is desperate do anything to not finish below both us london teams again, and honestly with this group of players and our manager, i dont see head games working at all.

..And which team has the best record at Old Trafford in the Premiership...?

    Don't need to answer that...

You make some arguable points, but they are based on wishful thinking.

Norwich COULD win the league, but I don't think it is very likely.

We all know about Newcastle surrendering a ten point lead but that was a badly managed team with a lack or resources. Neither is true of Chelsea.

If Chelsea beat Arsenal on Sunday, they will be firmly in the driving seat for a Championship win.

United have had an excellent run of their own in recent games but are STILL 9 points adrift. so why is it Chelsea that is going to fade and not United?

With all the stick we got about boring, boring, Chelsea and 1-nil, I'd like to think that part of the season already happened for us.
