My Greek friend told me that the government (municipal or national I'm not sure) has hired 3000 police to serve as security in addition to the more thousands of security personnel that will be arranged by Panathinaikos themselves at Leoforos.

This match has huge implications as the first leg finished off 1-1 in Kadikoy two weeks ago. Plus, Fenerbahce are coming off a resounding 6-0 demolition of their domestic rivals Galatasaray.

The first leg was marred somewhat by unsightly scenes (if you support the idea of a joint 2008 Euro bid by Greece and Turkey)... but in my opinion the violence wasn't as bad as the media made it out. Considering that this is the first time a Greek and Turkish side have met (and that the two clubs we have here are massive clubs in their countries), there will be inaugural bragging rights at club level.

Personally, I have no favorite here. I had a good Turkish friend who was a devoted Fenerbahce fan and now have a good friend who's a huge Panathinaikos fan. May the best team win.

    But gentlemen, your thoughts?

Allthough I am not a big fan of Fenerbahce, I think they are on a massive rebound and that momentum will take them successfully through the tough challenge in Athens.

    I don't know.

The fact that PAO was able to go into Turkey and pull out a draw is huge. That is the biggest advantage for all Turkish teams, their home stadiums.

Now, Ferenbahze has to go into Athens in front of 20K rabid fans at leoforos????? That will be very difficult to pull a win out. Especially after the banners that were hung like "We do not dought you are Greek, we doubt you are human". The Greek fans will be vicious. I wouldnt' be surprised if the match is suspended.

Fenerbahce are won of the teams in Turkey who play ugly football. There Coach and former 1860 Munich coach Werner Lorant has no tactics or a system. With the likes of Ortega, Ceyhun, Serhat, Tuncay, and Stevic they are still one unsuccesful team in Europe.

Fenerbahce are one of the teams who play ugly football even with the likes of great players a few names Ortega, Ceyhun, Serhat, Tuncay, Johnson..... The coach is to blame....Werner Lorant has no system or tactics. Mustafa Denizli would have been better, Fener will always be unsuccseful unles they decide to get a good coach and keep him for years, as did Galatasaray with Fatih Term and eventually led them to with the Uefa Cup in 2000.
