I like France. Good, competitive league, without all the BS.

In England, it's hard to get playing time because the teams have too much money and too many stars.

In Italy, the style is too defensive, he'll get injured with all the tackles.

In Spain, there are too many racists. I wouldn't recommend any black players go there.

I hate to say this but thank god other players are hurt which is why felipao got some time. Nice goal!!1 Caicedo is better than Evan. Hopefully Felipao has been working on his speed. He f.vcking powerful and strong but he has the same problem that Castillo has. They are slow and that does not cut it in the EPL. Lets cross on fingers and hope he's been busting his fat ass on improving his speed. plus, I think that Jo forward is awful!!!

    Wait...that wasn't a goal...that was a WORK OF ART  !!

Man City fans must be asking themselves why this guy has been playing reserve ball if he has the ability to pull off a play like that. Caicedo and Robinho have potential to become a lethal duo because of their ability to do magical things.

Well now they are calling it an own goal. What a bloody disgrace. If Hughes has his head on straight Caicedo will be starting the Hull game. I hope he goes 3 for 3. What an awesome turn around. At the start of the season it seemed he'd be on the reserve squad until a likely loan in January but now anything is up in the air. Of course, City still wants to buy every top striker in the world so who knows. If he continues to get time on the pitch and scores like that he will be a regular. Now we just need to see him do acrobatics like that for the NT.

I never doubted Caicedo for one second. He just turned freakin' 20 years old and the kid is a beast. I think he's so big, he looks like a grown man, so it's hard for fans to realize his age. So when he played in his first few games for City, he probably looked a bit lost, because he's just not an experienced player. But he's got talent out the wazoo...own goal or not, that was awesome.

That's the biggest cope out.. He's only 20? Do you want me to name footballers that are extraordinary at that age and playing in south america and europe? In Ecua futbol it used to be "He's only 28". He's been in Europe how many years now? The man city fans can't stand him and yes he is 2 for 2 but if Felipao doesn't start against Hull his future is elsewhere. You can check my post about him from way back when I first saw him play.. He is strong. great touch but incredibly slow. He needs to be faster and by alot. Hopefully I'm wrong...

Re: Felipe Caicedo - Official Thread

I'll ignore your comment about 20 year old players for now. BTW he just turned 20 a few months ago, so his appearances last season were all when he was still 19. They were mostly appearances coming off the bench and with 10 minutes to go. I don't think he did that badly, he just didn't do much. Then Sven left, and Felipao was pretty much history.

Anyways, the speed comment is interesting. I can't say that he's slow, if anything, it's more that he doesn't use speed as a major part of his game like Valencia or Benitez. Felipao likes the ball at his feet and likes to dribble, pass, or shoot. This is one of the reasons I never thought he was a great fit for the Premier League, and may be better off in a place like France. Forwards in the Premier League are basically conditioned to take one touch and shoot.

Honestly, what is strange about Felipao is that he's got the physique of a striker, but looking at his game, he is more of a creative midfielder. It will be interesting to see how coaches play him over time, and find where he can contribute most to the team.

By the way, I just noticed his goal against Racing Santander was also a backheel, with his right foot. Two backheel goals in one week - must be some sort of record.

Did I call it, or did I call it???

    Well...this changes EVERYTHING.

    1. I think it is now unlikely that Man City let an in-form striker go away for the rest of the season on loan. Especially since their other options (Benjani, Jo, Elano, Vassell) have not been up to par. They will probably buy a superstar forward in the winter transfer market, and Caicedo will alternate with the others as a starter depending on who is in form.

    2. Why did Hughes sub Caicedo out, instead of letting him try for the hat-trick? Doesn't seem like the right way to reward a player for 2 first-half goals.

    3. My only negative on Felipe's play is sometimes he looks like he doesn't fight for the ball enough. Everyone knows the British like to see the work ethic, and fighting for every ball.

Extraordinary...You have to be extraordinary to go to the prem league at the age of 19 especially coming from Ecuador. No one ever doubted his talent. it is easy say he's got talent and physique..blah..blah..blah.. but the hard part is figuring out why not not succeeding. he has become faster but needs more work (speed). I'll break down the game later but if you recorded the game at minute 28:44 he needs to be in position on that cross...if he achieves more speed than he's going to be a prolific striker.
