uh, how come there is absolutely no information about why he hasn't even been on the bench last 2 games. No statements/releases by the manager....nothing. He's been pretty much Derby's biggest signing of note in the last few weeks, using $2mil of Derby's small transfer budget; I'd have thought someone would have said something.

I'm confused. I thought Benny had a Euro passport, due to his Austrian heritage?

He is eligible, but apparently does not have one. There was some speculation that said eligibility to have a Euro passport was a factor in his getting a work permit on appeal. Not that it matters that he has a work permit, apparently.

Derby are a shambles, theres no turning back, i think over the weekend i might see what the odds are for them to finish with -30 goal difference.

Guys, Benny maybe a good player, but 1 player cannot change a team. Certainly not Derby, if he has anything decent about him - he will be gone within 1 season.

Billy your in your 1st year of your 3 year plan, either you sort your S*** out or some angry fans might just drive you out of your comfy leather seat!

I don't know....It seems that they are just a couple of players away from being a solid side. A better central defender, and a quality striker. Of course, then they would have to be lucky with injuries......Oh well, let's hope they do better than Sunderland two years ago

I'm confused about Benny not playing. Certainly before the teams were announced Radio Derby were expecting him to start as was I.
More worryingly, our team are a shambles and rock bottom on confidence. The Galaxy of the BPL.

Yeah, neither of them ever seems to play. I'd love to hear why he wasn't given a run out tonight, especially as it was basically a second string team.

I agree that under the circumstances it seems very strange. It must be the visa thing, but there are reports that he was at the match on Saturday. None of this really makes any sense. Surely Davies wants to play him. Right? Is he still training with the team? Does anybody there go to the training sessions?

I just hope this gets sorted out before he loses too much time so he has a good opportunity to assert himself with the first team. Otherwise, this deal could be bad for him and the US and Derby, considering their budget for transfers.

Maybe that's just it, they want to save him for the weekend.

And question about the Carling Cup, was today the 2nd leg or is it a one-off tournament?

Not Benny, Eddie. When Fulham bought Lewis, the British media tagged him as the American David Beckham.

It's an old bigsoccer joke to reference that.

actually, closer to Real Salt Lake. Galaxy has really good starting line-up, but absolutely no depth, with horrendous coaching/mgmt.

'arry wants Anelka. Nuge is third on the depth chart at Pompey.

This would be a good get for the Rams, much better than Kenwyne Jones and about the same price.

Here's my guess as to what happened there: He had said he was starting the process to get his Austrian passport back when he first joined HSV. Around that time the Bundesliga eliminated their rule limiting teams to 3 non-EU players. I suspect he let the passport thing drop because he "didn't need it anymore." A bit short-sighted of him if that's what happened, but I can't imagine another explanation; As I understand it, his eligibility through his grandad should be clear if he actually pursued it.
