Thanks for the link, Wolves. It certainly looks like they're making good progress on the stadium. Do you know if the construction is on schedule?
The last I heard, everything is on schedule.. They are still working a five day week and if it was behind I'm sure they would be going to a six day despite the added labor cost. They also, likely, have some "safety time" in the schedule so that all will surely be ready for June.
Wow, those pics are looking very nice. But I am even more impressed with the previous pics. Those really give you a feel for how it is going to be inside of that volume cauldron. http://www.lagalaxy.com/ntcu-update12803.html -Tron
I can only chime in with my amazement that this stadium is going up in L.A. in support of the league I love. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for Harrison and Frisco to follow suit.
anyone know if the roof is going up on the other side of the stadium yet? i don't look at the webcam often, but i kinda think i can see the roof on the other side of the stadium going up.
Yeah, what's up with these pictures being released every month. I think someone should post new pictures every week.
please excuse my observation but... wait a second. Victoria Street/HDC is going to have a euro-style little roof around the entire field??!? no ***************ing way. that is too damn cool... where have i been? oh yeah... reading my damn law books... LA, i am one jealous Revs fan.
'Home depot center'? BAH! I know they need the money but that name is awful. Still I'll support home depot for supporting soccer. Let's just hope the fans call it 'Victoria Station' and it sticks, sort of like nobody calls candlestick 3com or whatever it is this week.
yippee for MLS and LA looks great. Are those practice fields off to the side? Will there be just those 3?
My standard answer: The south end will be used this year for temp seating when needed with bleachers. Later, it will be used for permanent seating bringing the capacity up to 27K from about 24K this year.
Yeah, what up wid dat? Will they sell standing room only to sit on that slope? Should they make it a regular feature? Bring the kiddies, sit on the grass, get high, watch the Galaxzilles? Mmm? How about calling it the Grassy Noll, and every time Cobi scores everyone points to the grassy noll? Also, what up with the Roofs? I mean Columbus Crew Stadium has NO roofs, and it rains and snows and sleets and hails and everything in Columubs. Just how wuss are these SoCal-ers?
you galaxy fans are just plain lucky. The Fire have been trying to get a stadium for 2 if not 3 years! We just cant get it. the lease on land has to do with it or something. but still i guess i still take my hat off to you LA fans.
It's Mayor Daley(sp?) they didn't slip him enough money under the table. We need Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro in here to so PW how to "motivate" people.
Stadium by night Just got back from a late dinner in Long Beach. On the way home I decided to take a detour and see how the stadium is coming along. The panels of the roof which will provide the shade are being installed on the North end of the stadium. The jumbotron is now installed over Lalas hill! It was quite dark to make out the details, but it appears to have a 2 spaces for either advertisment or maybe just the clock and 1st half/2nd half indicator on the bottom portion of it. I drove around the back behind the east stands where the panels are being stored. They are about 12' in width, quite large. I was nice to see the stadium by night just by moonlight. A friend who was with me who had never seen the stadium commented on how large the whole complex was. Of course I had to explain to him the whole Training center thing, but that is another story. If the Galaxy website does not post any new pics by late next week I will make a trip out their on Friday and snap a few photos to share will you all.
