This is what happened last season when FCUM played against a Conference side in a pre-season game.

I don't think it was a full strength side, although certainly not too far from it that day. It's too far for me to travel to a friendly (only ever been to one, up in Kirkcaldy), so didn't actually see it myself.

Apparently we're still waiting for him to sign a new contract.

Started slowly, but was probably one of the few positives to be drawn from the season by the finish. Top scorer (I think, possibly joint) despite missing a good proportion of the season, and created chances, looking dangerous going forward. Popular with the fans.

Got a superb goal against Northwich late last year, we went 2-0 up and were in total control. Of cause he got injured and we went on to lose. Did have competition when he came back from Felix Bastians (potentially one of the most gifted players seen at the Shay), and we haven't had a reserve side this season, so took a while to get back to his best.

The player we got from Wimbledon was less successful (Shane Smeltz), and has been released to the disappointment of only a releatively small number. Although he did do quite well against Wales last week and score six in a game at one point.

Couple of more friendlys added to the list.

    14/07 Studley FC (charity game)

    31/07 Trafford FC

And the Blackpool game is now a reserve game.
and is based on a family fun day.

The draw has been made for the FA Cups first 3 rounds.

FCE will face the winners of the Trafford, Atherton game.
Having got a bye in the 1st round. And if we could over come
The winners of that game, Then we would go onto meet
Fleetwood in the next stage, How far could we go??
1st round proper would be nice:p

all the draw here. Thanks to Tony Kempster.

Stupid question, why are you raffling/autioning or whatever a Man United players shirt at an anti Man United club?

I always thought a lot of FC United fans were still Man Utd fans, and the protest was aimed at the owners not the club itself, pretty much like Leeds fans with Bates.

Anyone got any protest ideas. You guys are the masters of it, after all.

If you in South London tomorrow why not take in the fans Match.

AFC Wimbledon v FC United of Manchester

Its not just about the match, see below for timetable of events lined up.

    Friday

There is a comedy night for any who are down a day early or for any more local United fans who can make it to the Cherry Red Fan's stadium. Food is available and you can get a better deal by emailing the club in advance. Details are here. http://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/news.php?Psection_id=2 Go down to the story on the 25th July. Should be a cracking night. There are already 90 FCUM fans booked for it.

    Match-day

Drink - There are two big bars at the ground where all FC fans will be made very welcome. There is also loads of parking at KM but I'd expect this to be busy, so if you want to park at the ground, I'd suggest getting there before 1.00pm. The Peel strippers/music pub is the nearest, about a five minute walk away towards Kingston and on route from Norbiton station. http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/show.shtml/50/Robert_Peel/Kingston_Upon_Thames Only other local pub I would recommend is the Bricklayer's arms. http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/75/757/Bricklayers_Arms/Kingston_Upon_Thames Plenty of decent pubs in Kingston, Richmond and Wimbledon. There is also the hole in the wall pub at Waterloo if you're coming from there and want a pint before the train.

Food - There is an decent cafe called fatboys that does very good food just round the corner from the ground. (2 minute walk) There is also a good chippy on the same row of shops. Food at the ground is available and excellent too.

Also - Don't forget to buy your matchday programme and the joint WUP/UTB fanzine. Remember all proceeds from the fanzine are being split between the FC development fund and the AFCW ground fund. Next to the ground there is also the AFCW shop which has recently been enlarged and re-stocked. Plenty in there to spend your cash on if you want.

post-game There are three bands appearing from 6.00pm in the back bar. Entry is free with your matchday ticket stub, so hold on to that if you want to watch the bands. Details of the bands are on our OS, link above.

I reckon the game itself will be once again close. I'm predicting a 2-1 AFCW victory with a crowd of 3291 and us wombles being outsung by the FC fans again! The match will be segregated on police advice and the FC fans will be given the whole Kingston Road terrace (opposite end to the last time) and half the John Smith's side terrace. FC fans who want to sit can do so in the main stand.

Glazer was just the final straw, FCUM is a protest against commercialisation and the club losing it's identity within the Manchester community. More power too them.

(x2) Obviously I am no Man Utd fan, but it is great to see such a successful club set up by the fans. A couple of teammates who play occassionally for Silsdens first team said you had a go at our physio. (fit isn't she?)
