Porto arrived in Canada to a very hot day, time of the flight 7 hours C. Porto Campeão nacional já está em Toronto Calor intenso esperava a comitiva do FC Porto à chegada a Toronto, Canadá, onde a equipa vai defrontar o Liverpool para a Champions World Series.
It's being kinda hard for the coach to think of a team when the midfield essential players are only coming now, and also Diego after the copa america, seitaridis after the euro cup, and soon 6 or 7 are leaving to the olympic games.
The only thing i hope for, is to see FC Porto playing like a team again and not making all the mistakes we made against Lokeren, hoppefully Del Neri tactics will be assimilated by the players in order to achieve something this year, if this doesn´t happen in one month maximum, i can see a dark future for FC Porto...
Just got back from watching this fantastic jogo. Pretty spirited match all throughout. Liverpool got some headers in the box off set plays. We gotta avoid that situation in the future. Fantastic save by Nuno towards the end. Quality. Are my eyes deceiving me? Was that a quality display of real futebol, Portista style I've been hoping for all these years?! Sure taught them putos bitter Brits a thing or two, though. Ahh...the lost art of the finta. I've almost forgotten what a good finta was like.
haha..i thought it was an awesome save at the end...I thought Porto played super good and shouldve had at least 3 easy goals...i mean come on..The constant fighting was funny too.. lol.."putos" and "finta" two words I havent heard in forever.... Quaresma was great tonite too...he should be on the olympic squad.. Side note: Did anyone see the Benfica fan at the end, wearing the jersey but had on a portugal hat and scarf...how do you go to a porto game wearing a benfica jersey?? LMAO!
I have taped the game tonight How good was Quaresma tonight was he firing on all cylinders and did he make some good moves. I ask this because my Girlfriend has never seen Quaresma play but i have said that he is just as good as Ronaldo and she thinks he is a great player. I do not want Quaresma to let me down after i build him up
he can definitely be comapred to him...he played well overall i thought, not as good as ronaldo yet, but he looks like he can get there....he played 6o minutes and the announcers were talking about him very highly as well and comparing him to Ronaldo...he had lots of good chances too..
OK. A little taste of what you'll find: He receives the ball right at the far right end, outside the box. His body is turned away from the defender coming to him but is aware of it. Takes a short look at what's to his left and sees Liverpool players coming to bolster up the line. Then takes the ball, by turning his right leg, the ball circling in front of him until in a new position and then out front. Dribbles left and into the box, between his defender and another coming to help, to then take a shot that caught the keeper looking at the players coming back. Shot is high to left side of goal. Hits the crossbar, bounces in front of the line and back out. Another Liverpool defender heads it out to corner.
Seriously, thanks. I like to give somebody a mental picture of what was happening when (s)he asks about somebody. Since he's got the tape, I thought I'd use a "highlight reel" to get him worked up.
Does young Carlos Alberto have a method for scoring critical goals? there was the opening one in the Champions league final, which forced Monaco into a forced style. Then their was that touh today which gave Porto the win over Liverpool. Liverpool played well at times, but Porto just have such a stifling way of playing when they want to. Overall good game, the Fans in Toronto were passionate too.
Porto victory made it to the a bola all high's for Carlos Alberto http://www.abola.pt/ should be a good incentive for the game against Galatasary, on Sunday
That was one hell of a Game!!! Spelt with a capital "G". And there's no better place to have it played then in my hometown: T(dot)!! I'm soo impressed with what the SkyDome did regarding accomadation for a more than worthy performance. How did they get Baseball astro-turf to change into real grass pitch? I have no clue, but it sure looked good. The game was similar to a CL quarter final match and I loved every minute of it, a truly stellar effort considering it was a friendly.
Porto did good, considering it played with many subs, many subs of the subs, and still without the internationals like Maniche, Costinha, Nuno Valente, Seitaridis, Postiga and Diego. Beside of changing 9 players from the 1st half to the 2nd, which proves there is plenty of talent in the team. Good game for a pre-season.
