I can't believe we've lost to Besiktas at home. We can kiss the UCL goodbye. I'll be shocked if we manage to get out of the group now.
Early days. The group is very balanced, so there won't be two teams running away with it. We still have a chance, but Casillas was a bit of a joke tonight.
Nestes jogos é que se vê os treinadores!! SC não percebeu que não pode jogar neste esquema na Europa! É demasiado evidente que não se pode jogar com 2 médios SÓ no meio. Entretanto vai entregando o jogo!!
We won't many games without Aboubakar. It's just one game, let's see how we react in our next game before the panic sets it and Sergio goes wild. Besiktas is a quality side and Sergio got schooled.
I'm not hitting the panic button yet but this loss sits squarely on SC shoulders (period) O SC é um treinador de garra e coração. Sure, Casillas was poor today, but we didn't lose because of him. We simply lost to a better team. This loss clearly demonstrated the following: SC was out his league today and lacks Champions experience. Danilo isn't at his best. Abou is essential, especially in Champions. We have a very thin team.
Our defence really let us down to. Even Juve didn't spank us last year when we were a man down. This home performance was just a disaster.
Yea true. Today's colinho is as blatant as I've ever seen. What blows the mind is benfica fans can't even admit it. That's why I enjoy watching them fail, whether it's in Europe or in Portugal.
So, what do you fellow tripeiros think of the Aboubakar situation? It looks like the media blew it out of proportion and Babel has come to his defence. Abou already has a history of bad mouthing Porto but after reading more about e situation it looks more like a story to attempt the destabilization for Porto. To me it looks bad for a Porto player to go to the opposing team's locker room after a heavy home defeat but he does have a private life with friends at Besiktas. He is free to visit them.
A tough 2-1 win at Rio Ave puts us in 1st place. Our attack was lacking but I think credit was to Rio Ave's pressing. A very hard team to beat when they are organized.
a non issue if you ask me a stupid thing to do and something I would never do but what would you expect from a 25 year old
Rio Ave is a tough nut to crack at home. Our first half wasn't great but Rio Ave was playing a tough defensive game. Lots of contact and fouls. My men of the match was Marcano and Marega. Marega is making many people eat their words. Herrera had a decent game too. I find Brahimi's game so frustrating. In the recent past, today's game would have been a tie the way Rio Ave was playing. I really think we need another central. If anyone gets hurt we have to go to Reyes. This squad is very thin. If any fundamental piece gets hurt, we are screwed. I laughed at how the crowd gave Andre Andre a hard time. God I hate that orange away kit. Who comes up with this sh it.
True, we do need another central desperately. I hope we can last until January and then pick up some cheap mercenary. I'm starting to jump on the "get rid of Brahimi" bandwagon again.
GRANDE RESPOSTA CARALHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I hear is the Porto fans signing. Felipe is the fvcking man. What a freaking beast. Sergio Oliveira had a great performance. Happy for the kid. Abou strikes again and again. PINTO DA COSTA, ALLEZ
It seems like Sergio Conceicao realised that he can't play with 2 midfielders in UCL/big games BUT he didn't have to change the formation for tonight, just 1 player. Having Herrera play as the second 9 with Aboubakar made a massive difference when we didn't have the ball because he either helped press Monaco's defenders in a 4-4-2 or sat deeper to support our midfield in a 4-4-1-1. This also meant we forced mistakes higher up the pitch which allowed us to get in behind. Our delivery of passes/crosses and decision making in Monaco's final third were also much better than in our game against Besiktas.
A huge character win. Felipe and Marcano were huge today. As for Casillas, he didn't have much to do and he looked shaky as hel l.
7 goals in 7 games for Aboubakar and Merega looks class and Brahimi looked unstoppable. only downside is that these three players are African and will probably get called up to the African cup of Nations
I agree. Marega has been dismissed by many this year but he's proving many wrong. He's not as technical as Abou but his work ethic is tremendous. Strong like a bull and hard to knock off the ball. I really like this African connection we have up front with Abou, Marega and Brahimi.
Great first half, very dominant in Alvalade. But you pay when you miss goals like this in such a game. Second half things got more chaotic as both teams clearly tired and the game opened up. I wonder if SC didn't overestimate Porto's physical superiority or if he gambled on getting an early lead and then counter. It almost worked if the latter. Feels like 2 points dropped, though. Patricio was MOTM.
